E30 Zone

A buddy of mine has an e36 compact with a little problem, the bonnet release cable has broken and he can't open the hood now.

I'm sure there's a way of opening it from outside but how ?

the hood latch would be the same as on the regular e36,

on the pass. side, same way as on an e30 i think
