Heres a quick video of my current "modified bmw" although i should be drifting over to E30 ownership in the near future.
This is a standard E28 525eta auto which i bashed into mondeo tdci
ass kicking shape 2 years ago.
In this video the eta autobox changes at 5000 rpm, although if i use the
shifter manually i can take it up to 6600rpm ... a bit harsh but even
faster accelerating.
Notice how the brick like aerodynamics start to have an effect once it
gets into 3rd gear.

If I read it right.. thats about a 6.5/7 0-60? not bad for a slush box!

Arnt you the guy from the 5 series forums, who says his 525e will beat a 540i.
Yes it is you.

And one of the seven series forums as well ... all i need is a 1,6 and 8 series to complete the collection!
As for slush box ... more like crash box!!
The early (non-electronic) 4hp22 boxes don't tell the engine to
let the power off during the gear change ... meaning you get a neck snapping lurch from my scrapyard dodging 527i (especially 1st-2nd gear).
What many 525e owners don't realise is that they can have similar acceleration just by swapping the 3.06:1 differential to a 3.91:1.
I did that, then swapped the E head for an I head just to give it some more
revs.
It certainly won't keep with a 540i above 80mph ... in fact it won't
keep with my 730i above 80mph, but on the santa pod straight and
around town she's just plain magic!!
(0-60' in 2.1 seconds on santa pod).

BLARGH!!!
That stuffs more 'orrible than a face full of used engine oil.
I don't suppose tesco's are selling zintec steel sheet ... i feel the urge to
start welding my E28 coming on.
