HI Craig
I live 15 minutes away and have an e21 running a 2.7 on triple Webbers, a few e21's run m50's but you would be better of with a turbo m10 cheap easy, big power an helps the handling. the only non e21 engine which is easy is a m30 a fritz sell the mounts and manifold.
There is very little of the shelf for the e21 so the e3o wins on cost, ease of parts, and a good source of second hand used parts, but you see them all the time. The e21 weak point is the front suspension, easy to sort but custom job to mount compression struts.
Also there is a cheap e21 n Glasgow on ebay at the moment.
Any question just mail me

Hi Graig
Differrent angle rear trialing arms, the diff is only used in the e21 but you can swap over small case internals, lsd's areliek hens teeth, the only upgrade of the sheld is a e12 rear diff conversion
