E34 530i from '88

Hi ...
I might be able to pick one up over here a bit cheaper than normal.
It's done 225,000km so it's no spring chicken but with plenty of life left in it.
Any pros and cons you know of ... engine weaknesses (think it's an M30) etc .... ??
Still bloody expensive but then cars are over here ....

These were a good car in their day, now about as desirable as bum cancer and scrap value only !

530i is ok, but 535i m30 is one to have.
watch out for front suspension wear-has upper and lower balljoints and top ones/arms can be a bitch to repair.

Vacuum leaks as with all BMWs, but other than that there's nothothing to go wrong. I have a similar mileage M30 (but bigger engine) in an E28 M535i and it runs so sweet! Can't beat the sound of an M30.

I would have to say that my dad's 535 m30 sounds better than the m60 v8 i've got in the 730i
