E30 Zone

...for my cousin, picked it up today.

Basically, he wanted one, and left it to me to find him one, been looking for 3 months, and finally spotted this one on e-bay, had a bid, won it, and fairplay, it's a corker, drove it the 200 miles back today, and it's faultess, everything works as it should, full history, all old MOT's, lot's of nice options, and the bodywork is excellent.

A lot of car for the money, and I think he had a bargain with this one!

Bargain at 3.5k that mate. What they like to drive......Acceleration etc. It looks really clean.

Lovely car to drive, smooth and quiet, very refined compared to the E30.

Very quick car, but it doesn't make a fuss about it if you know what I mean!

the 328i Sports are probably one of the best E36's about! as Simon says, quite refined, but i much prefer the way the E30's handle and the way they deliver the power

Nice simon, i'm sure your cousin will enjoy that. Is it just the picture but the boot looks really long, did 328 sports not come with spoilers? I think those bbs wheels are the nicest available for the e36, do not let him sell them.

The 328i is the best E36, better than M3 for the money and not so lumpy. I spun mine at Cadwell Park at 90 in the wet round 3 times and carried on lucky I had my brown pants on....phew

I did have a 1998 M3 E36 from new aswell, but found the 328i easy to live with it was 1996 model (loved that car)

There must be a bug in the air cause i'm picking one up on Saturday and my mate is looking for one too. I need somthing understated to run around in for a while and i looked at a few options. After driving my E46 330 sport vert for the last few months it was difficult to even consider another E30, so it was always going to be a E36 as i think you get a lot of car for your dollar. I looked at a few M3's including the cabs, but opted for a 328 instead as it's much cheaper to run, and with a few upgrades and tweaks you can get some preety nice power so i'm going for that instead!

Kinda didn't want another red one though. Although, spent the weekend giving mine a REALLY good going over and it came up spankingly new and gorgeous! I fell back in love with it again.

Red does look lovely on the sports... mines in the bodyshop next week to get a rear arch sorted where rust is just starting to show and to get a full machine polish - should look good when I collect it!

Only plans he has so far are to change the exhaust, some nice STW tailpipes, and M50 manifold and BBTB.

Simon, make sure he gets it mapped after the m50 mani and bbtb are fitted.. it'll still perform well but will require some changes to the fuelling to maximise.

I wonder how many Zoners will be owning E36's in 1-2 year's time? I have to admit I'm done with E30's now - i've had most of them and it's getting so hard to find one that isn't a rusted out heap of shit with fucked seats and more oil leaks than the Torrey Canyon. Once you get into them, the E36 is so much nicer as a car. There are nowhere near the same rust problems and parts are much easier to find - I've noticed a definite downturn in E30'sa in breakers over the last year whilst E36's are just starting to appear in breakers in numbers.

325i Sport or a decent 3.0 M3 four door for £4000. Hmmm, hard choice..............

Lots of people are turning to e36's now. I want a 328i sport as my next car.

E30's really are becoming rare in good condition, and not such a practical every day car

I recon zone numbers will start to fall over the next 2 years, simply because e30's are dissapearing!!

E36 convert right here. Moving onto M3 terratory pretty soon too if I can get finances sorted.

Don't think I'll get another E30 unless I can afford one as a third car now... Been there, done that 15 times now.

Don't get me wrong... a nice E30 is still a wonderful car. But the E36 is a much more accomplished all-rounder.

Better rear suspension, quicker ratio rack, 24v motor, close ratio 'box, 15 inch wheels - plus they're a lot easier to work on than the E30 - complete front legs that bolt to the front hub for example so you don't need a balljoint splitter or stilsons to shift rusted on damper collars. No rotten jacking points, no rear beam bushes, no soaking wet boots, no shagged SI boards, no pulled exhaust manifold studs.............

But they are common! I never really see E30's round here... only a few and 2 of those are zoners!

Yeah, but when E30's were new, there were thousands of them about!

I'd love to get back into a really nice E30, however as stated there are just not many about any more which are really clean.

The e36 with a nice spec is a lot of car for the money... and as stated, a 325i sport e30 or an e36 M3 for similar money... its a bit of a no brainer.

Andyboy, your so right, I've had so many e30's including five m3's since 1990 and still get that feeling when I see one but since getting my e36 m3 as a daily driver I could never go back, it all seems a bit old now, the level of refinement is years ahead, and its so comfy and smooth.

The e30 is still a great car to chuck about etc and I still look at them and drool but wont own another, I think lots of people will move on to them now and they'll get a stronger following. When I got mine last summer most of my mates spent ages telling me it was all wrong but now two of them have one and another is looking for one.

I in no way mean to diss the e30 on here but I think things are moving!.

I've got to admit i love the look of the 328 sport. Drove a m3 evo once, fell in love. One day i'll have one. The trouble is i love the look of the e30 to. Like the way they drive. But it's abit dishearting when you see the rust coming through and you know it'll be scrap in 2-3 year's if you don't spend a fortune on it now be for it's to late! Would like a tech 2 sport but there all alot of money for a 16 yr old car that's been to the moon and back, When compared to a e36 i can understand why people are being converted.

The computer is reading a constant 21.3mpg... shocking, huh? I don't drive slowly though, and most of that is to and from work and knocking round town, etc.

I'm going for a 328i touring as my next car. Much as I love the E30 I want more power and can't be arsed with an engine conversion. I'll probably keep the old girl as I can't bear to part with her. Unfortunately most of them are are autos, how easy is it to install a manual box?
