E36 M3

I've been offered an E36 M3, at a handsome price.

It's '94 Coupe. Silver.

About 145k.

Issues: Rusty in a few places, chrome action, had replacement engine with 45k on it a few thousand ago but no receipts, (Yeah, ok).

Good - Beige Vaders (to sell), 18" AC Schnitzel Reps (to sell). Plus should tidy up ok. Also, decent M3 plate which could be sold for ~ couple of hundred.

Would mean selling my Civic  and stripping the fu** out of this new weapon and selling anything good on it.

:)

Hmmmm.

The Civic is as fast as fcuk. It's worth less than your After Shave ('Raging Bull' by Estee Lauder). Another engine is about £250 if yours shits itself. A mate of mine sold a NICE '94 M3 Coop for £4500..............

I understand the above points.

I know the benefits of the Civic, it's awesome, I love it. BUT I've been wanting RWD for a loooonnnnggg time.

That EVO sounds like a bargain, playo.

Dave, Andrew seems convinced it's ok! up to you really but i wouldn't punt the civic off just yet. We need to see that paint job at the ring. those anal photographers will be having a field day with it!

Hahah! Touchee Simon.

Well I've been chatting to the guy tonight, his purchase of the Scooby he was going to buy has fallen through, and I would need to sell the Civic before I bought the M3 if I'm being remotely sensible. I've got 3 trackdays booked for this and next month, so it's not gonna happen before then anyway now.

We shall see. There'll always be another. Bit annoying due to the saleable bling but nevermind. I love being the underdog in the Civic, and I'd loose that in the M3.

At some point yeah. Civic for now. I couldn't get rid of the Civic just yet due to the trackdays I've already booked. I'd need to prep that M3 at least a bit so the timings not quite right. :? :D

Four door 325i £800 - suspension kit and tyres to get it to handle the way you want another £800 - then get Ant to Turbo the bastard - 300 bhp and mountains of torque. Engines are about £250 a go if you need one. Go this route and you won't need to sell the Civic plus it'll be very cheap to maintain with no silly expensive bits. It'll be a better car than the M3 as well with none of this 'caught in the wrong gear' nonsense. Find an early non Vanos 325i and you can drop in a couple of Schrick cams in an afternoon.

I'm getting a FOC Spax adjustable kit for the 320i - I'll let you know how I get on!

An M50 turbo is a serious monster!

I'm liking Andy's idea.

Not really the case with a turbo is it?

From reading this thread I do agree that maybe the e30 route is the best way to go, after all the car you were thinking of had a dodgy history, "new engine, no receipts" etc. you will be looking to have the car (whatever you choose) on the edge a fair bit, the cost of e36 M3 engine parts is a bit silly at times..
