Hello all,

There has been much speculation and misinformation over the past two months or so, regarding the long term future of Total BMW Magazine. Let me at last put everything down in black and white.

Total BMW has been bought by Kelsey Publishing (www.kelsey.co.uk) and its future is therefore assured. Issue 75 should be in the shops/with subscribers any day now, while 76 is being planned as I write. The magazine WILL continue to be published in the long-term.

The magazine should continue as it is, with the same mix of feature cars, buying guides and tech features. There will be a few changes, including a much bigger classified section, but its focus will remain the same, so we can keep bringing you all the best BMWs from the 1960s onwards.

In terms of staffing, features ed Nick Odantzis and art ed Rob Crossland have decided to go down other avenues of employment within Future Publishing, our erstwhile owners. I wish them both all the best; they did a great job during their time on the magazine. I will be continuing as editor, and am currently setting up an office at home. Full contact details will be in the magazine in the coming months (probably at the start of 2007) but until then you can contact me via email at: matt_g_robinson@yahoo.co.uk. All feature car ideas, letters, tech queries and so on should be sent to me.

All subscriptions will carry over to Kelsey, so if you are an existing subscriber your mag should keep being delivered as normal. I will be talking to our new owners on Thursday this week (Nov 23) and shall mention the possibility of doing a better subs deal for forum members/linking up with forums in the future. All subs enquiries should go to Kelsey; details are on the website.

May I say thank you to everyone who has offered messages of support throughout this difficult time, and I hope you continue to enjoy the magazine. All the best!

That's good news. Glad the mag has been saved from extinction and we're not now forced to read 'max power' or 'flat cap' mags.

Great stuff. Despite being a whinging c*nt about the standard of some of the content I think it's superb that the mag will continue.

Without digging a bigger hole for myself than I did last time, according to Matt's post, in my opinion the writer whose work I thought was dreadful has moved on to other ventures.

Good luck with the transition from Future to the future Matt and TBMW.

Thank you all for the comments, both positive and critical - they all mean a lot, and using them I should be able to keep bringing you a magazine you like.

I met the new owners yesterday and I am very impressed with the company. I think you'll see a few changes to the mag but the focus remains exactly the same; BMWs owned by enthusiasts, modified by enthusiasts and restored by enthusiasts, from '02s to the M6. As I'm on my own now, my resources are a little tighter but things will still be done to the same high standards as they are currently.

More developments as they happen folks!

What a waste of internet space... It's fairly obvious that you posted that little nugget in order to get a reaction. Which it did. But really, was there any need?

Tell you what - since you've already started to make your point, why don't you carry on and tell us all exactly why I'm such a dreadful writer and how such a dreadful writer manages to keep employment?

I'm not going into it again. We've been there, done that and it won't add anything to the thread. Look at the 'TBMW is up the shitter', or whatever it was called thread if you're really concerned.

I also wasn't necessarily pointing at you. Matt's post insinuates that he has none of the previous staff. In his next post he even says: "As I'm on my own now...".

If you really want to know why I think "such a dreadful writer manages to keep employment" then my honest answer is that I don't know. However, the country is full of people who can't really do their jobs but muddle on to retirement.

I'm not going to add any more. If you want to take it further PM me and I'll be happy to chat.

I presume you will be giving up your current job then to become a freelance motoring journalist, just the love of it...as you seem have an amazingly high opinion of yourself I'm sure you could do very well...
