The temp and fuel gauges on the E34 i am currently selling have gone tits-up and neither are now working neither is the economy gauge

The low fuel light still functions and the obc range tells me if i'm running low also.I know these dashes are prone to faults but is their anything i can do to fix it or shall i just replace it with a known good one from the scrap yard?
Cheers Spadge...

Try changing the back of the cluster - it just unhinges on blue and grey back units. Later ones use 'silverback' clusters and they're sealed. How old is your E34 and what model? I'll probably be able to sell you a good cluster - I've got a few.

Hello people, i've got the same problem with my E34, the speedometer's on & off. It's also causing problems with my headlights & fogs.
Any help will be much appreciated from my side...
Regards, BJ.

i know the E34 is a bit 'clever' regarding things like this.
the lights are controlled by a module (LKM) under the rear seat, maybe the dash signals are controlled by a simililar one (there are ecu's everywhere!!!)
spadge, i have a full set of M30 E32 735i ECU's etc if you find you need one for fault finding... you're welcome to borrow them all and have the one that you need, if it fixes it? i also have most of a E32 OBC too.
they're only sitting in my garage in case we needed anything for the E34 sport and as that's on on ebay, we on't need them any longer so they're ebay fodder!
BIGJO, i have a LKM (light control module) for a E32/4 that works fully but throws up a tail-light bulb error message that you can try if you want it for postage + a beer? it works the lights fine but sends a false error message to the dash. pm me if you want to give it a go?

The LKM by the ECU in the engine bay is for the head lights and theres another one under the rear seat for the rear lights, not sure which one though ?

more than one of them

silly arse germans!!!
i've only had troubles with the rear one but i assumed it did all of the lights.
that means i have a spare to sell on! i have a box full of brainy things from the E32 donor that i need to sell on, just got to work out what does what first!
