Hi all hope your fine. Unfortunately i left home for work this morning and come to find the passenger side lock hanging off and a little dent underneath it :x thought someones had a go but not got in...walk round to the drivers side and the doors open! open the door to find all the contents on the glove box and the door pods on the floor. Stereo was still in the car tho and there were no signs of force near the stereo or the barral. Bit strange that nothing got niked. walked around the car and there was no damage on it what so ever bar the area around the lock. Whats gets to me is that some kn0b has caused damage to my car for nothing. took two pics after i parked it in the garage...

with ref to:

I live in the North East and there's a guy in a town called Bishop Auckland near me, did 6 month's commy service for wiring up his motor (Which had been broken into 4 times) to the mains via croc clips.

He put a thievin git in hospital for 3 weeks when he tried to nick the car!!!!!

I say, Well Done that man!! :D

its shit when it happens but around where i live the kids want laptops or satnavs they will not touch the stereo.

Sat Nav seem to be the order of the day round my way too! The little scumbags check the windscreen for an impression left by the suckers of satnavs. Stereos seem to have gone off the shopping list.

I now dont have anything in my car on display, the glovebox is empty and left open at night. Nothing in the pockets or on the seat, not even a tartan rug! The stereo is original BMW, so not worth a penny to the thief cos its now 16yrs old! I am lucky that I live near quite a few elderly nosy neighbours who dont go to bed til the early hours and are still up before me!!

Someone broke into my car about a week ago, but they were going for the whole car. Tried to unlock my drivers door, couldnt get the key in. Got in the passenger door, and the ignition barrel was totally destroyed. Thank goodness they couldnt get the steering wheel off. They didnt steal a thing, the radio was still in the glove box (jvc) all my money in the ashtray, EVERYTHING! Cost me a thousand rand to buy new (seventy fifth hand) locks. Damn little sh!ts! Spoke to the cops about it, they think the idiots wanted a fast get away car for a cash in transit job or a bank job.

morudy check they didn't nick your tax disc mate (assuming you're in UK)

jog5000, man you've had some bad luck with your car - symapthies mate

stereos just don't seem to get stolen anymore. why? is it because they're so cheap now?

bloody thieves - I caught some kids trying to steal my bike the other day and you cannot physically detain them until the police arrive or you're in really deep shit. can't kill them either.

Problem is theives think that stealing IS a job and some of them work hard to get what they want too - often at greater cost to themselves - prison etc. Frightening thing is that prisons are almost full up. Most ex cons reoffend anyway.

If I could have given the thieves that I have caught trying to nick my stuff a slap they probably would have learnt something. It may not have cured them of thieving but after a few more slaps they might learn more.

It costs around Ԛ£40,000 pounds a year to keep someone in prison!

Check this out:
PRISON POPULATION & ACCOMMODATION BRIEFING FOR â┚¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ 06th October 2006
(from http://www.hmprisonservice.gov.uk/resou ... asp?cat=85)

Population

Male 75,238
Female 4,605
Total 79,843

Useable Operational Capacity 80,053

So there are only spaces for 210 more prisoners!
Total cost per year to tax payer roughly Ԛ£3200,000, 000 - EVERY YEAR (yes that's 32 billion pounds per year) at current occupation levels!

And most of those reoffend. What a bad way to spend money.
A slap is much cheaper no?
