right, cousin came round, driving the porsche, then later on his older brother came along with his M3.

went for a test drive with both,, heres the verdict:

M3 more torquey , throws you in the seat more.
M3 better interior, better seating position
porsche, more of a "drivers" car
porsche better handling, and obliverates bumps and humps. well it is 4 wheel drive.
sound,, they both win!
looks M3 for me
inside the porshe was rather horrid, didnt like the dash,

both of them were convertables, top down, i still prefer M3.

basically, only real plus points for the porsche was the grip it had to offer, though it felt really heavy alot of the time, and the steeriing requires a firm grip as aposed to the m3 which you could do with a finger! M3 is more fun as you can get the back end out,,, no can do in the porsche unless your going silly speeds.

is the porsche worth the extra 20-30 grand over the M3... FUCK NO!

Well i would much rather have the Porsche over the M3 any day!

The sound the Porsche makes just cant be beat! Not by a M3

I dont like the clumsy big Steering wheel and dash of the M3. (dont feel connected with the car)

The M3 feels like a heavy car compared to the Porsche and i recon the Porsche is quite a fair bit quicker!

I much prefer the lower to the ground cant see much over the bonnet (Mcoupe) type of driving position.

It's not a driver's car if it's a carrera 4 cab, nor will it handle better than an M3 even if it is a cab. Carrera 4 cab says middle-manager who's having a mid-life crisis.

Put the M3 against a proper 911 and it's Stuttgart 1 Munich 0.

both are cabs btw,,,

and seriously, unless there was something wrong, the M3 "Felt" faster. and the porsche often "felt" heavier.

indeed the sound of the porsche is very very nice. though the AC schnitzer back box aint too bad either ;)

the steering wheel is indeed a bit big,, and you dont feel connected with the car,,, hence why i said the porsche is more of a "drivers car" then the M3 is.

anyway just my thoughts after driving them both,

the porsche dash is alright, though you get way to much reflection from the dash onto the windscreen, and whats that carpet on the door cards about!

interior LOOK M3 wins imo, performance,,, i dont know,,, but M3 FELT faster. sound,, hmm i do love the gargle barble of the porsche, i think the M3 you can live with for all occasions, porsche would get uncomfortable in a long journey, , good suport from the seats though! handles better when cornering and just,, just the steering made it feel heavy.

Oh I understand that fella and it's interesting.

From what you are saying the 911 sounds like a 964 (big steering wheel, dash reflecting onto windscreen, carpet on doors), so you're not really comparing like for like. The M3 will be 15 years newer and the 911 won't be 20-30k more.

If it is a 964 Carrera 4 Cabriolet it's just about the softest least driver focused 911 you could have tried.

M3 any day for me.. i'd be embarrassed to drive a porsche to be fair, never mind own one!!

996 Carrera 4 cab. I'd rather have the M3.

indeed the interior is severly mank,

though you get used to it after a while, the interior in the M3 is like a cock pit of a aeroplane,

M3 ownage tbh,

20grand,, seriously too much money for in essence few advantages.

if they were both the same price,, then it would be a hard decision to make! but easy to choose the m3 if it means saving 20G's
