Anyone have any idea what sort of weight a fully stripped E34 525 sport would be?

List shows them being around 1500kg's!

Cheers!

my owners handbook states unladen weight 1480kg.

strip out pass seat and rear seats, sound proofing , rear electric window mechanisms, spare wheel, you could be looking at 1350 perhaps. i know you can buy carbon fibre bonnets too

Wow thats still a lot. How about ripping out aircon condensor, compressor, and all associated ancillaries, taking out ABS etc etc?

Surely there is potential to get it close to 1200ish?

the handbook (bible) also states that unladen weight is without air con or any special equipment ie sunroof.

i saw an e34 in brussles last year.
the back doors were welded shut and void of locks or runners, just that perspex kind of glass, bucket seat, carbon fibre bonnet etc but it was a track car.

point is theyre heavy cars. this is the spec. sorry its in french. if u want anything translated just ask... im belgian

Cool.

A friend of mine is thinking of buying a M50 325 sport. The seats are worn etc but it seems a sound car.

I warned him of the weight being a little too much for the 2.5 lump, but he will be stripping it anyway if he gets it.

Just guaging realistically what weight can be saved. It's fully spec'd so I would have throught stripping out everything and any unessential equipment would have saved more than a couple of hundred kilos.

Thanks for the info anyhow.

P.S any idea how the 24v sport drives / goes?

ive got one :D :D :D :D

sport has m-tec suspension plus other bits and bobs including LSD.. the handling on mine is actually superb compared to my old 520i se but i think that may just be down to fresh shocks and bushes. (essential in my opinion) the 24v engine is great and surprisingly economical and i have stock 15's on it (225) which gives it enough traction but doesnt compromise comfort. i love it.

TBH the wheels make the car!

I bought it from Andy the mod from BMW land (silverbmw328 I think) and also from the 5 series forum. He lives in Milton Keynes yes.

To be honest it's pretty good, not the original paint, looks to me like it's been sprayed on a few pannels, but still looked good. Bit of rust underneath but nothing to write home about. As soon as I've got rid of the E30 and broken it up, this one will be going in the garage to be cleaned up and re-sealed underneath.

Seems like he kept it in pretty good nick and the mileage was decent too at just 100k

The chap who bought the blue one from up north is a friend of mine who also lives in Swindon.
