F31 Brake Pads and Warranty Question

Morning all,
My F31 335i needs new brake pads. This is the sort of thing that I would usually do myself, but this is the first car I have had with a BMW warranty, so my question is, is it ok for me to change the brake pads myself, or will this void my warranty? And if I do, do I have to use BMW pads? From what the internet has told me I should be ok as it is an extended warranty and not the original one, but I thought I would ask here too.
