Idling looking through ebay when bored and I ended up finding this E34 525tds for sale. I'd had a vague interest in buying an E34 for a little while but they don't seem to come up too often in the guise I was looking for. The listing ended and it didn't sell so I contacted the seller, went down and ended up coming home with it :D

Pretty chuffed with it! One lady owner from new, 103k miles. Exterior is very straight, there is some cosmetic rust but its nothing to worry about. It needs a machine polish but it's far better than most brilliant pink examples out there! The interior is pretty tidy too. It does need a good shampoo inside but everything seems to work! It has the original Blaupunkt tape deck although it's code locked so I need to look into that. It's manual which I'm happy about too. I was quite intruiged by an early 90's diesel and its much smoother than imagined it would be, I guess being a 6 banger helps. It's very quiet inside to drive although it is a bit of a barge. Pretty chuffed, I didn't really want a project so I hope it doesn't have any hidden dramas down the line. I hope to put a tow bar on it and use it as a retro tow rig for the race car. We shall see :D

They make great tow cars, especially with SLS on the rear 8)

I'm quite smitten with the thing to be honest. I have named it Max (short for Maxiturd). There is some tidying to do but I'm concious I want it to be a bit of a work horse so I don't want to get too obsessed with making it mint.

Thought I'd update this incase anyone fancies some E34 good-ness. Considering I wasn't looking for one and bought this because it looked like the E30 and was red (strong criteria) I can't get over how much I like it, It's now at the point where I like it so much it upsets me that it is a little rough around the edges.

So far I have:
  • I had to deal with a dodgy passenger window which turned out to be caused by the rail on the bottom of the window becoming unstuck so it wasn't being supported.
  • Managed to find some genione BMW roof rails for it so snapped them up
  • Fitted some decent branded tyres and fucked off the 12 year old ditch finders it had on it.
  • Done a solid engine service to keep him smooth
  • EGR delete
  • End Tuning ECU chip (what an amazing difference that makes.
  • Moved onto the spurious antics of the tail gate. Fog lights on when in reverse, boot release switch not working, I smell something...

That'll be why then. Get that repaired and suprise suprise it's all good again.

New boot badge before and after.

As he will be a tow wagon for my race car, I finally found a decent new tow bar fitted it, then went on a 500 mile round trip to North Wales to help a mate collect and Audi UR 8)

Then mostly just been out and about with various freinds and family and their similar age vehicles. Photo dump:

And now I've gone and bought a roof tent for it :D :D

Nice one :thumb:

Must have missed the original post, Xmas stuff and all that. :?

I have the crank out of one of those going in one of the M20s :D and I still have an early 535i Sport in red that has been in the family for couple of decades. It needs quite a bit of work but it is all original and not many sports left now. Always felt it was made from solid rock compared to the E30, especially the weight of the doors!

Lovely car.

Have you had the skirts off? They love to rot behind there.

No, only SE's from the wide grille facelift. Plus Sport/M5 stuff.
