E30 Zone

Just bought an approved used BMW and can't believe the incompetence representing the brand.
I've bought a 2017 G31 520d touring, obviously because of lock down couldn't view the car but as my previous car was the F11 older model I knew it would only ever be an improvement so wasn't concerned.
So the salesman sends me a walk round video and literally one of his first sentences is "no kerbing to any of the wheels " as they are diamond cut this was quite important to me.
Upon delivery I give it a wash, refused the pointless £400 paint protection, and low and behold there's a 30mm kerb rash on one of the rear wheels already coroding. On top of that the agreed 12 month MOT hadn't been done.
After a rant and them half trying to say it wasn't there before they agree to collect it and sort. I got it back today after 4 days and unbelievably the kerbing is still there.
After another rant they have apparently done one of the front wheels that had a minor mark on it and not bothered to even look at the other 3 and the salesman hasn't even checked. So know it is going back yet again next week.
How do these people keep their job and why do BMW allow them to tarnish the brand? The cars sell themselves anyway.

Are you going to name and shame the dealership,if not give us a clue.

Take it up with BMW UK. It's possible things have changed in recent years, but they used to be quite good at keeping dealerships in line.

Indeed, the only other time I have bought approved used bmw it was an e39, cracking car they were. Had a weird vibration that turned out to be a severly buckled wheel they hadn't spotted in their comprehensive used car checks. Complained to bmw uk and miraculously had a grovelling service manager on the phone days later and a new wheel fitted. Hoped things might have improved but sadly not. The 12 month warranty is the only advantage over any other dealer. Maybe I've been unlucky...... twice.

A lot can depend on the Used Car Sales manager at the time, I spent 25 years as a senior tech and most were good adhering to the A.U.C check list doing what was required to put it on the front, anything to bad went to auction, but there were a few who would leave stuff hoping customers wouldn't notice They didn't last long as when BMW do their audit they could see what the techs had reported on the paper work and what was authorized to be done.

You've hit the nail on the head, it feels exactly like they throw the car out there and see what gets complained about.

the one on sleaford road/boardsides?

they used to be really good, i've never bought a car from them but used them to service my sport & got loads of parts from them & never had a problem, mind you that was about 10years ago so the management could've changed since then.

if you keep the car & want any work doing there's an bmw indy in louth (straight up the A16), roy alexander on queens street, run by a father & son (roy & mark) both certified bmw master yechs so they know what they are doing.

I'm in Grimsby, the Boston dealer happened to have a car I wanted. On the plus side Louth even nearer to me. I'll definitely be keeping it, great car despite these issues and I'm sure we'll get there. To be honest the kerbing isn't the worst in the world but the guy specifically said no damage so they can sort it.
