That's lovely  In terms of hard value though, E36 values are in the doldrums and uncultured types (!) would probably say it has the least desirable engine/ body style and gearbox so it may have a limited market. Maybe £500 - £1000?

£500-£1000 it what I was thinking, and seems about same from looking at prices auctions finish too.

I know what you mean, least desirable engine, body type and gearbox - could be nice as a daily round town though.

I was seriously hoping it was a 2 door!!

I had one of these many, many moons ago. Absolutely dog slow, kick down just results in the M43 donk making more noise as opposed to rapid acceleration! Amusing in its own way though.

However...probably the cheapest car I've ever had to run. 40mpg all day long. I used it for commuting, put the best part of 100K on it and apart from the typical M43 head gasket it was a paragon of reliability. If you can cope with the lack of go, they're a very pleasant thing to smoke about it. The drive feels reasonably modern and that one looks a peach. At £500-£1000 its a steal really. That's a car for the next 10 years if looked after. A manual 318i or 318is would be even better (the M42/M44 has the bonus of being noticeably quicker and more economical) but most are knackered old sh!t now. :(

You could argue that as E36 values are so low right now it might be worth buying something higher up the range as the price difference from top to bottom is small.

I picked this one up for not very much in the summer:

Just over 60K on it.
