Bought another turd to add to the collection. An e34 525i auto.

With the daily e30 needing work, and not wanting to drive it in winter I have been thinking about buying another car. Then this came up with a non VANOS m50 for £1,450 from a wannabe trader type Polish guy. I am in need of a NV m50 for my turbo car, and prices have got a bit silly on them. One on eBay for £750 right now, which will be £1,100 + by the time it's landed.

Image

75k miles. Full service history and stacks of receipts. Messaged him quite bluntly saying I am interested, but not at that price and we agreed £750 sans the awful AC wheels. Went to view it and was pleasantly surprised. A very together turd that has within the last 1000 miles had all new brakes, full service etc. Just leaking power steering fluid. A deal was done and I picked it up this evening.

Image

Looks far better on the original steelies.

Drives spot on however the temp creeps up in traffic/at idle. New viscous fan is being picked up tomorrow as it is not engaging and will have a look at the leaking PAS fluid.

Parked up with the other 2:

Interior is very clean:

I can already tell I am going to like the car. Will probably fit an m52 to keep it going rather than scrap it, and let the missus drive it. But for now, it will make a lovely winter chariot

It's ok Dan, already procured an m52b25 for it. Would be too much of a shame to break it. The missus can smoke it once the daily e30 comes back out of hiding :D

And don't give me the poor car rubbish, I am sure you have pilfered lumps out of equally respectable turdz

Just shows how a car can be improved by a thorough de-councilling. I'd love to know who thought a set of black Shitzer reps looked good. Peasants.

The polish bloke you thought he could shift it for a bag more than he paid for it with the new wheels

Need to remove the horrid black tin off the headlights and indicators. Hopefully some thinners will see to it.

Small island, I thought I recognised the name of the original owner (before the wannabe dealer type got hold of it it only had 1 owner). Turns out he is a very close friend of my dad and confirmed it wanted for nothing while he owned it. Sold it as he has bought a Porsche 997. In the stacks of paperwork there is a hand written note from him saying how he will miss driving it 8)

Had a half day so picked up a viscous and spent the afternoon cruising round the island watching the air display. Very happy with my purchase.

I've been offered a set of BBS' from my friend, however I feel the steelies are oddly appropriate for the car.

Indy, Pete and Rav said it needs a golden box of Kleenex and Werther's Original?

Imo a straw fedora on the parcel shelf would be more appropriate !

Agreed, that would compliment the Royal Yachting Association stickers on the windscreen.

Still loving the turd, I even eeked 25mpg out of it which is impressive in Jersey

Saw you in town last Friday in the white peril, I had one of these with the M50 (remember the old white 525i Sport with the really wide Rondel alloys that used to park by Bellozanne for years? now in pieces at Sam's yard)

Got to love an E34, the quality of the interior is really good, definately a step-up from the E30 in that respect. I wondered if that was the one that belonged to a chap who lives a few doors down from me in St Peter's village?

Having been chauffeur'd in this executive barge last weekend, I have to agree with Ross, the car is too nice to strip just for the engine.

There are almost 30 years between Ross and Indy? Are you trying to say that Ross looks like a middle aged father of four who has just finished a round of chemotherapy?

Unnecessary, Mr Steve.

It was a Kilo, Ross, and you known it, not 10g's!
