He is a friend of my nieghbour then, nieghbour said he saw my E30 and if I wanted to sell let him know.

The 7 was in great condition!

The writer in the story is of course based on Roald Dahl himself, who drove an e23 for many years and loved it like one of his own children. It sold on eBay about 3 or 4 years ago and was restored and auctioned off for charity..

Official top speed of the 733i was actually 127mph, so that must have been a tweaked one.

His was a 735i so that may be where the confusion crept in...

733i. :D

Just realised the driver is the Australian actor Rod Taylor who was in a lot of good films - died in January. :(

Looks like Roalds was a 732i

You can see the reg in the 3rd photo. Showing as not being taxed or SORN since 2010

A lovely E9 bites the dust at about 23 mins onwards in another episode of Tales of the Unexpected here

I can't see that selling at £1500 despite the rarity.

You would have to be a proper freak with major skillz to even consider it.

Can't be that hard for someone who knows what they are doing?

Is anything hard if you know what you are doing? :)

Apparently it requires fabrication work, it's not like dropping a normal M30 in. Some don't think it's worth while either, see link.

That 745 is sadly scrap, but the engine , if good, is worth that all day long.

I seem to recall that in the book version of this, he was driving a blue E3 3.3 LiA. Could be wrong though.
