I'll let the pictures do the talking and tell you what i know so far........but i'm a bit hard for it :o

Its a 95 6 speed wagon in Daytona violet with black leather which are manual but heated front and rear, auto a/c. I can't see a sunroof? Is it extended leather? Kind of looks it to my eyes. Hartge suspension is fitted, i guess thats why its sitting low.

I'm waiting to hear back about milege (drivers seat looks very tidy so might not be much leg) service history etc. Silver lower trim bits are painted purple and its originally a German car

Main problem is the engine, but again waiting to hear details but rebuild is mentioned

As always its worth running it past the zone collective. Story is this dealer has bought 30 cars from 1 guys 50 car collection in london, mainly Ferrari. The M5 was the family car until engine fault developed. Other cars have side tracked its progress. They say there is a F40 involved he also mentioned a sport Evo M3 and lancia integrale, they're in the back ground of the pictures here you notice along with other lumpy tackle

They don't seem to know its price and i'm not making an offer without knowing the full score, my guess is it had to go with the other cars and they don't really want it as its not the sort of car they deal in ie too old and not worth alot.

What do we think? The wife hates the colour, i love it!

I know this car, and two previous owners. The last owner is a bit of a hero who I bought a GMC Typhoon off a couple of years ago.

If it has a poorly engine,it would make a donor base for the bi-turbo..... winkeye

Would you have to sacrifice one of the fleet for this?

Well i'm getting a little ahead of myself but the bi-turbo story is long due an update but sadly/thank god for that whichever you choose its 99% sold.

So i've got money coming i hope to crack my M power cherry. As always for the right price but we'll have to wait and see what the milege is and how much these greedy car dealers want for it!

Not a massive fan sorry Si. The e34 was always such a handsome saloon the touring always looked a bit of a saggy ass fatty in comparison certainly nowhere near as nice to look at as any of the e30 e36 or e46 tourings

All depends on the price and how severe the engine issues are even though you are one of the few on here capable of fixing one of these expensive turds I would expect fixing anything more than minor engine issues to empty your wallet very quickly when you factor in the m tax.

If you do buy it that steering wheel needs hurling in the first skip you see anyway.

Personally I'd hang on for a saloon that looks like it's been looked after. If the pics are anything to go by the previous owner was spunking all his dosh away on exotic turdz and probably had other things to worry about than maintenance on a 20 year old dog carrier. If he was that minted the engine issue must have been significant otherwise why wouldn't he have got it fixed ?

This would be my ultimate M car, in my favorite colour as long as you don't mind hooning around in the LHD personally I would have the touring over a saloon just as I would have an RS4 advant over the saloon, there's just something cool about a fast "estate" car.

Is it's a 3.6 or a 3.8?

Re: What do we think? E34 M5 touring content

by Simon13
its a 3.8 Apple, all the tourings are, but its a late 6 speed car, so its got the bigger 4 pot brakes up front on floating discs plus the nurburging suspension - but this looks to be gone for the hartge setup

Me i like LHD or it certainly doesn't bother me, if anything climbing into the left to take the bi turbo out always added a bit more of a sense of occasion to it even if it was just a trip to the pub after work!

Pacer has given me the low down on it and it sounds not all that bad, the engine drama sounds like it was the doing of incompetance from another party not the previous keeper

Fast estates are just the ultimate all rounders a car that does eveything well and only gives a little refinement away compared to saloons

My blue Compact is shortly to be Daytona violet, but sadly not in time for Gaydon. :(

I'd do it if the price is right. You're more than capable of pulling the donk out, stripping it and doing a rebuild. It's hardly complex (no Vanos) but perhaps ££££. Buy it right and it might even make you money or be a break even after you've done it and moved it on. It's a handsome beast for sure.

Never had the opportunity to be in a touring, but my brother had a saloon several years ago. Fantastic cars. Great colour on the touring as well.

He only sold it as he was offered Sir Tom Hunters E39 M5 which had every option going and less than 10K on the clock.

Parts were getting very pricey for the E34 and that was 10+ years ago. I have heard that the M-Tax on bits for these can make getting them running again a whole load of money.

Lovely car though if your brave enough to take it on, I guess after the Bi-Turbo shenanigans its not something that will phase you.

Simon as i have said to you before do not underestimate the engine rebuild costs for the engine.

Whatever you think it might be, quadrouple it!

Awesome chariot. Great colour, would be better with champange trim but black ideal for a dirty scuzzer like you :D

Go for it if you can get it at the right price. The battle is, the trader will know what it's worth and the fact you've been champing at the bit for photos, will be making them moist at the thought of a punter with cash.

Careful negotiating is required.

Pete, do we know what it traded at in relative terms, as a job lob I suppose it's hard to calculate.

They have the Ferrari F40 up for £799,000 this is small fry, but i guess the salesmen within them will try and screw as much as poss.

I've spoke with the head salesman today who is going to get the M5 powered up to check mileage. He asked me if i knew where the battery was! Plus the what service history there is, i'm fairly certain they are not sure on a price as i've asked 4 times now and ended up saying get me the info i want about the history and milege and the engine problem and go from there. They seem keen to let it go in its current condition though. He did however seem quite keen to make a deal in the usual saleman way but as always we can't go over odds on it as there is a major repair bill on this with the engine

Its f0000ked, he does not need an inspection to tell him that ! FACT !

It all boils down to Shekels. If they are greedy, they can keep it. Once they pull it apart and realise the cost of fixing it, they will come running after Simon, quickly !

What's a good one cost to buy if you can find one ?
Even then the chances are lots of the same things will need sorting, but, on an enthusiast level ..... Can I say that? a really really cool car could be had here...albeit a no doubt long and expensive project. Surely it has to be worth a punt ? :D

E34 M5 touring 6g....... is with out doubt,, the most iconic and coolest estate car ,,EVER

not the fastest.. but great look and stunning to drive,,

a 6g with the NÃarburgring package is what it really matters about,,,,,,,, these cars are going skyhigh in prices

to those concerned,, only 752 M5 were 6g all 3.8..... 404 4d LHD 139 RHD and all touring were LHD 139

If the price is ok,, BUY IT,, it is one of my favorite car of ALL TIME

I'm not buying it, the dealer is on drugs literally.

~Its covered 222,000kmh which is about 135,000 miles, the history has some gaps it would appear and the engine has a hole in the block..................................but "Ali" the saleman tells me its still runs. I said i'm not so sure about that

Anyhow they want £8995 for it as it stands. I said i'll offer 3k he said no at that price in the usual attitude asian way.

So a pipe dream! :(

What,in your opinion,is the engine rebuild cost likely to be?
Parts and machining, stuff we cannot do at home?

how long is a piece of string? They're a simple engine but the parts prices are very high and its all main dealer only, a good 2nd hand 3.8 unit is around £3000? I expect you could spend 5000 plus my own time sorting it out. There will be other issues also as its old cars we are talking about

How many engines does the zone know of that run with a hole in the block?!?! ffs

I think i'm being reasonable, there is another 5 speed M5 touring in the same colour forsale in germany with no engine for 4500 euro, its the same milege, but better spec on mobile.de

Should i e-mail them and point this out? I'd rather deal with the head salesman than this ali creature who seems to be a cretin. Or just leave it be maybe. I'm almost angry these c**ts think they can get £9000 for it!

I'd be more worried about what made the hole in the block! Blocks don't just fall apart and loose bits here and there.... And we all k ow what normally make holes in blocks! :(
