318d?

Next car is very likely to be a 2010-2012 318d estate (whoops sorry Touring), decent economy and £30 a year tax, I cover high miles for work. Dealership guys, any reason not to? (ie hit a certain mileage and something very expensive happens?) I'm an old guy :-) so not that interested in power/looks, just practicality.

Thanks
Brian

N47 = timing chain dramas. Make sure you buy from a main dealer and get the warranty which you then extend every year. No N47 will escape having the chain and tensioners replaced (an engine out job) but the warranty will cover it. These are stop-start, and manual gearboxes can take a hammering resulting in them jumping out of gear. Buy as late and low mileage as you can, and don't touch one without the BMW warranty. They're a nice car though and they go quite well.

Pretty much echo what andy says other than cars built after jan 2009 don't need a crank with the chains so the engine doesn't have to come out.
