does look a lot like the Kia Carens
BMW are a shadow of there former self, these days BMW is an average everyday brand which blends in with all the other bland bullshit like Fords Vauxhalls etc which means they have to start building bland boring everyday cars to suit its new customer base
Mercedes seem to have been able to hang on to the prestige tag alot better than BMW have

true but you just dont see so many peasants driving mercs even the old ones I really notice it at my work, BMW customers are distinctly average these days, Merc drivers seem to have more class. obviously this is a generalisation there's always an exception to the rule.
I think this song has done irreversible damage to all German cars, now every rude boy, chav and council type are going to want something german.

I followed a new 63 plate S Class today, the brand new one just launched. A cross between a Kia Magentis and a gypsy caravan, absolutely awful along with every other current benz. They're all pandering to the £299/month 10 bob millionaires.
BMW are hell bent on ruining their brand. I give it another 5-10 years before they've really f ucked it.

I'm not too worried about the future of bmw as I'm only interested in the old cars.

I'm sure it'll be shorter than that.

...rented this derv e class estate last week, plastics inside felt cheap and nasty, outside was overstyled kia-lite, steering was extremely light and remote. I think it's only this last generation of Mercs that have gone for the chav/ overstyled, bling market. That first generation A class was all about clever design (like the Audi A2), now they just want something they can make money with..
The E class did have plenty of poke though

Audi and Benz are attracting the "k nob" small syndrome drivers who formerly used to be associated with BMW. BMW is fast becoming Ford, its drivers are your average joes
And those idiots can't rap

Put it this way, if they can sell it they will build it. Audi and Mercedes will follow suit soon.

What I don't get is why they had to call the 3 series coupe the 4 series
Makes no sense to me
As for the spaz chariot in this thread, I'm looking forward to the M Sport version

Yup the market dictates and it brings everything down to the lowest common denominator. Sad.

Merc already have. I have lost track of what they make now. They will probably be making a bendy banana boat CL version of the Vito soon.

I hope it drives as nice as the B Class I think Mercedes have been employing stone masons and carpenters instead of suspension engineers. This will be a woeful turd, it will sell like hot cakes though, it's all about the badge, look at the demographic that buys them now and the models they buy, 318d, 114d etc etc they just want the status of owning a BMW, the engine is not important to them, as a company though BMW have to build them to survive, otherwise we would not see the good stuff they still build, 135i and the like.

Prob coz Audi called there a4 coupe an a5,
I think the whole situation reflect the way people are buying cars these days. There are more and more lease deal new cars about that people need to run cheap
I have a few mates that sell Audi and they tell me 95% of people walk through the door asking what can the have for £300p/m oh! And it must do 50mpg. It's like they don't really care what the car is like as long as it's the brand there after and is cheap enough to own, sad times! People are no longer "drivers"
RWD might drive better but most Mums would rather get an extra 5 mpg

I think these days bmw range is too big and the styling is rubbish. I thought i would never say this but i would sooner have jag their styling seems to be improving. Bmws are common as shit.

Before everyone runs out and burns their M jackets....
Could this be down to EU emission laws?
Aston Martin had the Cygnet
Ferrari had the Fiat 500
Although I haven't fully understood what BMW has been up to with some of the cars mentioned above.
Fill every 'niche' & keep the marketing buffs happy? Either way, above my pay grade!
