E30 Zone

i have a rattling disa on the wifes e46 318 .
can i remove it and fit some sort of blank ?
will it run with out engine management issues ?

I've heard of people removing it on the M44, so it should be doable on the M43. I've not looked into what's involved yet as I'm hoping it doesn't rattle on my M44.
