E30 Zone

Hi guys kinda clutching at straws here have a 760i 2003 here at the moment for a full service and has a few running problems.

Its hard to start cold turns over till nearly the end of the start cycle

Its really hard to start hot normally takes 3 cycles of button push to start

Its over fueling haven't got any gas readings as our emission tester went for a drink and is been repaired currently.

not much in the the line of fault codes one fault for both banks for fuel pressure regulation and a fault for bank 1 exhaust cam sensor .

Has anyone got any experience of info on these cars it would be brilliant

Worn eccentric shafts and high pressure fuel pump would be my first place to look.

I'd be looking at Fuel pressures for sure.

Not done much with the N73 V12's but when the high pressure pump fails on the six cylinder N5x engines you get extending cranking before starting and running off the in tank pump.

The fact its got fuel pressure regulation faults stored i would be checking the fuel pressure sensors are working correctly and you are getting correct rail pressures post HPP.

I was thinking hp fuel pressure issues but do these not have a hp pump for each bank and they have also got a rail pressure sensor on each bank. What pressure should I be seeing at the rail on these. Thanks for the help.

They do have two HPFP's and two rail pressure sensors.

Not sure on what the rail pressures should be but i should be able to find out monday.

You are obviously a bit younger than me.

I lived in the weshht of Ireland before the celtic tiger came along and fooled everyone into thinking they were loaded and the party was going to last forever.

The standard procedure back then if you had a big yoke with troubles /extreme thirst / high road tax (the 760 is a full house ! ) was to fit a diesel engine . Many an E28/E23/E24 ended her days in Ireland with a Nissan LD28 under the bonnet

Sorry for been a bit slow,I get you now and I have seen a lot of big petrol engines been torn out in favour of an old diesel so it could be run on green diesel.

And a tow bar bolted to the bumper was a nice Connemara feature too as I recall (although it always seemed to be an old boy in a Morris Minor or a Beetle in my day....)

The HPFP's deliver between 50-120 bar pressure to the rails.
