People talk about how many turns quick racks are from z3 and e46 etc but in comparison, anyone know how many turns a new mini cooper is?
Was driving my girlfriends cooper earlier and love it. I wonder how close my e46 rack will be when it arrives

The amount of turns to achieve lock to lock is not the be all and end all I'm afraid. It's the ratio and angle that can also be achieved that determine how quick a rack is.

Most fwd cars have less actual lock than rwd ones so they don't over stress cv joints.
Saying that, a lot of modern cars have very quick racks which make them feel very nimble, I was always jealous of my dads alfa 156s steering response. From a driving point of view IMHO it's the slow witted steering which ages the e30 the most. Even the m3 rack is nowhere near as nice as a base model e36 rack!

Huh? No I was just comparing the two. I have an e46 quick rack coming but wondered how it would compare to my girlfriends mini

be interesting to see how the two compare, i expect the mini has a little less total lock, so the actual ratio, and feel will probably be quite similar between the two.
