All UK cars were autos BUT the LHD cars could be had with a 6 speed manual, so yes i expect you could convert it

Dan according to my Alpina parts etk type thing the gearbox is...............a S6S 420G - getrag job used on alot of bm's? e36 m3 evo, e34 m5's and manual e34/9 540's amongst other stuff use these?

i've got all the manual part numbers here, i don't know how to post the page up though :?

Looks like the propshaft is the same, you'll need a manual pedal box from any e46 manual i expect. Also bmw clutch slave, master and pipework

Alpina list their own clutch, and gear linkage. I think your major drama will be telling the car its no longer an auto? As all the ECU's will be looking for the auto box but i expect it can be overcome

The B3 is the Alpina Switchtronic...?
I would say a manual 330i flywheel, clutch, gearbox and prop would do, plus clutch and brake pedal and their shaft, clutch slave and master cyls. You have to deal with the starter inhibitor switch and reverse light as well. For the wiring, I would try just disconnecting the gearbox ECU and see if it throws up any fault codes. On the E36 which didn't have the pixels you just removed the trans light bulb but on stuff with pixels (TRANS PROGRAM) you had to either swap the cluster or the coding chip.

The 420G is indeed the big Getrag used on heavy duty stuff. But the 330i six speed would be okay - nobody ever broke the five speed 330i box which was really the old 328i unit.

It will throw up a few faults as it will be looking for the EGS module and the DME will be looking for CAN signals from the EGS.

Speak to a member on here called "glenn" as he does various engine swaps using late model engines and i think he uses someone in Germany to reprogram DME's to not look for other modules like EGS, EWS etc.

As i said, search for a member on here called glenn. He uses someone in Germany to reflash ECU's so they dont look for signals from other ECU's.
