My New Barge

Picked the new chariot up today. It drives brilliantly. Engine wafts you along alright too.
Here are some pictures:
If you hadn't realised, it has one of these under the bonnet:
Attached to one of these:
Muchas fun. Its pretty specced up as well, with cruise, air con, OBC thing, rear loading tray thing

above and beyond the normal e39 electrics. Wheels are also rather sexual too.
Few odds and sods to do as you might expect with a second hand motor:
You can see the NS bumper needs pinning back up on the bracket. IOBC display pixels are slightly shot(usual e39 thing) and a bloody good interior clean!
Its all good, bar the MPG!

It wasn't tooooo expensive Dan, a good price for the seller and buyer I reckon.
Rob, its actually a 4.4 litre
There is a nice little 8 CD changer in the boot, some crazy big nokia thing in the other boot pocket, I presume some old school phone kit.
Here is a slightly better picture of the wheels, its half time in the football and this is all I have on the camera:
Not on that forum, might log onto it later.
Lee it is quite quiet, ultra refined as its all totally standard. It purrs alright. A wude boi exhaust on it would be frigging awesome for a few minutes, but not really the point of the car I guess. You could cruise at 100mph and it feels like 30.

Mark, they are a big plus, normal ones like Ziggy has in his e34 are just as comfy, but these just look a bit better and with cruise you can make the most of the thigh supports on the motorway. Not electric, but one less thing to go wrong I guess?
Henry that would be good, I found a guide for repairing them DIY the other day, but a bit electrical for me, so I'll probably get the dash out and give it to my brother, he is fairly handy with that sort of thing.
Lee, acheieving 18mpg would be good, it doesn't take much for the instant gauge to drop to 8
Cheers John's.
Bazza, which Wednesday?

I'm SO jealous!
good spot jon, and I'm really glad you bought it.
Remember.. if you ever feel you need to get rid ;)
edit: I'm sure I don't really need to tell you this but - the best possible tyres will really pay off in the long run!

Barry, i'll see fella. It depends where abouts I am at the time. Would like to pop up, last one I went to was in nov 07?

and it were a bit nippy like.
Miles, thanks for the advise over PM, much appreciated. I knew as soon as I saw it for the first time I had to have it, not that I let on to the dealer of course. I am fairly fortunate in the fact that there is £460's worth of Dunlop sp Sport tyres in 235/45r17 (iirc) fitted in July 2008.

As you said, it shifts along quite nicely, they have a long third gear, in fact I am pretty sure you could use third for absolutely everything.

You have first refusal if I do sell it(not likely I am afraid!), as I know you and your partner miss yours.
Its only got 98k on it and a nicely stamped up book to back it up, perfect. It's just run in. Keep finding more toys, factory HIDs as well I think. I made the drive to uni in a Dci clio today, the difference is out of this world, the clio is so good...oh wait a sec.

Miles I will let you know if I spot another one and now I have one, i'd be more confident about viewing it for you, if its local to me, as I have something to compare it to now. Problem is they are so rare that 'one' can't be too picky. I enjoyed wasting some cars tonight. I'd say its exactly the same as a 205 mi16 to 70mph as I tested it against my mates, after that its train like pull just carries on

Doesn't quite do corners as well though

Nice one lad

- do you think you like it more than the Peugeot?

Its slightly more refined Richard...
It's not bad djk, sports leather is the biggest bonus, well apart from the gearbox.
Bit random, but I saw two 540i's today, amazing as you don't normally see them and I do look out for them(sad). Obviously couldn't tell what they were, but one touring in an identicle colour but an 02 plate and a P plate saloon. Probably won't see another for half a year now.

Fair play Jon, I was watching that car too. Hoping the M5 would sell and I could of had a nose at it.
Im averaging 16mpg mixed driving, you'll have to let me know how the 540 compare after a couple weeks.

I was drawn to a touring as well Jon but mine came up and I had to bite the bullet.
Mine has a few pixel issues and have also found two places that do the repairs fro 170 and 180 quid respectively. one has the lifetime warranty as well. I think they replace the whole display
Nice car this. 6 speed manual 4.4's are UBER rare let alone in touring guise. The sports seats are the b0llocks as well. BUT, ever sat in one with the comfort leather with the wrap over headrests? Oh man! they are even better!!!!!!!
