Anyone know anything about these, just out of interest really, i've never come across one before. Looks a lovely old thing. Itd be silly money to keep tip top no doubt though!
Bhp must be in the high 300s surely?

That car has been for sale for a dog's age.

I wonder why that hasnt sold?

Too dear?

Or the LHD is putting people off?

Looks like a nice straight example.

It is expensive. You can get RHD E65's for not much more! But then how many of these are there in the country?
It's probably not that fast, 350 bhp and a couple of tons isn't all that these days. Perfect for wafting around Europe though!

It's different, but who would dare!

Speaking of those, you could get a decent Daimler Double Six for the same money. Extra coolness and cc's (although slower).

I saw a Daimler Double Six the other day and it was absolutely stunning. The lines on them are just perfect. They probably set themselves on fire or something, but they do look great.

Lol, yes. There was a tasty beige one in Lock Stock too i think.

It was the XJS coupe with the 5.3. The double six was a 6.0 and quite a bit faster. The XJS was crazy, a huge car with no room at all!

The proper series 3 double six which was made until '93 had the 5.3 engine, they were rubbish but a lovely thing to look at or ride in until they dissolved/broke down.
The series 2 which was made until '79 was also available as a coupe in jaguar or daimler livery, the daimler double six variant being the rarest .
I believe they made a double six with a 6.0 v12 in the xj40 chassis but since they are really ugly and sad as well as crap we will try and forget about those sorry council conveyances ! :(

Sorry yes, it was the other way around. Some of the later XJS' had the 6.0, none of the pre '93 Daimler's had it.
I agree, the later car is nowhere near as nice, sadly the only one i've ridden in though. :(

I've not seen it in the flesh but that dealer does not sell turds - all his car are spot on and his rep is very good round here. Look at his other cars he's selling, Eleanor anybody? winkeye

It does look minty, nice plate too. I wonder how much money has been spent leeping it like that over the years!

Hit the nail on the head, its just far too much money for a car that will be biblically bad on fuel and equally as expensive if anything goes wrong. I am afraid that I wouldn't give any more than £1500 for it which is a pity as she is a lovely old girl..........................just not worth anything :(

I'm sorry but that Alpina far more special then E65's close to that price. I bet the E65 will be more expensive to run and hideously more expensive if something goes wrong. Personally for £5K its a lot of Alpina for the money.

A similar one.

What is the profile of someone who would buy one of these? I just think that for the same money you could buy something much better and newer that would fit the profile just as well. I think its caught in the trap of being an undeniable great car that is however not a classic and therefore has a tiny market.

Just my opinion.

it's falling between the 5 and the 6, cars that many feel are classic BMW's (talking e28/24) but the old flagship of the range, the 7, as ever is neither seen as a classic or appears to be wanted. It's a shame as they're superb cars. Unfortunately they appear to be going the way of the e23.

The e32 B12 was the ultimate of the e32 range of cars offered by Alpina, even though I'd love to have it (it'll compliment my B10 e23) I can't justify the £5k price tag, maybe half that tops, especially in today's climate. As for the profile of the proposed buyer, an enthusiast who just doesn't want any old V12 e32 and see's the B12 as something special.

wrong time to sell a high consumption car and many still see the V12 as being really expensive to run and service. LHD doesn't help either although undeniably it looks to be in first class condition.

I dont know the dealer but I used to regularly see that b12 wafting around Bristol. The previous owner must of been local to my work.
Always looked very nice. I remember darting through some traffic just so I could cruise along next to it along the patchway duel carriagway.

Check my sig. If I didn't have too many cars already, that would be perfect for taking to Czech with me. I rather like that but I'm sure I could find something equally as nice for much less money in Germany. Berlin is only 200 miles from where I'm moving to and their new emissions regs mean there will be tons of interesting old stuff about in the next few months.

Ok, yeah. I kind of asked for that.

You've not lived until you've driven <1000cc of Czechoslovakian lunacy.

I'm Divided on this one. It's a serious chariot and probably one of the rarest Aplinas out there. 5k ain't a lot of money these days either.

BUT

LHD
LWB (this would look so muck nicer in a SWB shell)
Biblical fuel economy
Interior looks pretty standard e32 fare albeit with memory sports seats. I'd would have expected to see some Alpinaidge striping and mats in there along with an Alpina steering wheel.
AND it's a e32 FFS. E32's are now into the serious banger arena money wise. All of a sudden 5k seems madness for an e32.
