Alpina are meant to be an alternative to M cars. I cant see there being an Alpina M1. Prime examples of Alpina doing their own thing are the Z8 which Alpina removed the M power engine and manual box to replace it with a 4.8 M60 and auto box and the B6s which lost the S14 in favour of the M30B35.

It was the first and only mid-engined BMW to be mass produced. Twin-cam M88/1 3.5 L 6-cylinder gasoline engine with Kugelfischer injection.
Maximum power 276.8 PS (273.0 bhp) (203.6 kW)
@ 6500 rpm
Maximum torque 330.0 Nm (243 ft·lb) (33.7 kgm)
@ 5000 rpm
0-60 5.6 seconds
0-100 13.1 seconds
1/4 mile 13.8 seconds
Power to weight 210bhp/ton
Imagine Alpina getting there hands on that

No pics of the engine.
The owner (My boss) will be starting work on it soon, apparently it needs some new injectors.

Here is the M1 I saw back in 2006. I remember seeing one as a child in a BMW garage and falling in love with its shape. A possible classic super car?

I have never heard about an Alpina M1, and if there was, it would never looked like a shed as you have in that picture here!
If there are an Alpina M1.... It will mostly bellong to Alpina them self, hiden in a corner of their factory and not been access to media or any ppl outside the company

well from what ive read in a classic car news paper there was an alpina and a schnitzer tunned version but that was only for the track. they only produced 554 i think 54 for the track and the other 500 for the road they did a later race series with a 1000bhp twin turbo car for the la mans 24hour race but the whole production of these car only lasted 3 to 4 years

If you look on
http://classiccarsforsale.co.uk theres 3 M1s on there, crazy money, but no mention of Alpina in any of the ads. I'm guessing the Alpinas are as rare as rocking horse $hit as you say, mostly unheard of

that looks like a kit car ! the lines are different to any pic i have seen of a M1 ....I might be wrong but a car so scarce and even rarer in alpina form would never end up in that state surely ?

This is what i was thinking, the front spoiler on that looks like it is chipped fibreglass and the big vents in the door/rear quarter are not on any of the M1's i've seen.
