I could not believe my luck

A relative called me the other day and said that a friend of his had a 6 cylinder E36 for sale and would I be interested? When I arrived at the womans house in London ( about an hors drive away) , there on her driveway stood a 1998 S reg BMW 328i SE auto. She explained that she had bought herself a new car because occasionally when you pull away the car has a slight moment where the gearbox slips before it begins the car begins to move. The car has also just ran out of MOT and Tax and there is a large dent in the boot. It has done 106k miles with comprehensive BMW history file Taking a look inside it is quite a good spec car with dual zone climate control, 6 cd changer, light grey leather, trip computer etc. I drove the car around the block and the gearbox did have a little moment but it is was not all that bad at all. So i asked her how much she wanted for the car and she said £500.

"£500?" i said trying hard not to rip her hand off, for a car with no MOT / Tax and a dodgy gear box, I cant pay that ;-) Then she said that music to my ears phrase " Well I really want it off my drive way because it is just in my way!" Calmly I looked her in the eye and said " ill tell you what why dont I take it away for you and give you £100" "DEAL" she said "but only if you take it now"

I took the car away immediately and drove the 70 miles home without mishap.

Question is do I sort the gearbox, get boot lid and get it MOTd and sell it for profit or do I use the engine for a conversion on my E30 and sell the rest of the car in bits???

What would you do?

Pray it doesn't overheat or has overheaten in the past!

Never admit to driving a car 70 miles without T&T on a public forum.
I would probably fix and sell it.

if it was going to do that it would have done it in the Central London traffic or when i hit 150 mph on the A1 on the way home. Of course I checked the oil and water before I left and both were in good clean order. the car had been serviced by BMW less than 2000 miles ago. It runs sweet as a nut and I dont even have to worry about the nikasil as it is the later model.

tidy it and sell it. A nice profit there. Is there a fault on the box or does it feel okay?
