Selling a car with no MOT or Tax

Hi,

Just wondering. I'm selling a car tomorrow to a fella who is coming from Ireland. He's getting a ferry & then driving down with his pal.

Now the car that i'm selling is sorned and he'll be driving to get the ferry and then drive it home once he gets off the ferry.

I'm trying to get it MOT'd tomorrow but may not be possible.

Will anything come back to me as long as i've notified DVLA of the new owner?

No, if you inform the dvla, sign and date the log book and send it off, nothing will come back to you.

Is he daft, driving an untaxed car through 2 ferry terminals is like waving a bloody big banner isnt it?

They bwon't give a Monkeys. As long as the car isn't a shed and two guys are taking on a boat and away from here they should be okay. An MOT is useless in Southern Ireland - even with 13 months the first thing they have to do is get an Irish MOT done.

Date and time on the reciept!

Splendid. I just hope the fella gets the car home safe and sound.

With all the ANPR vans the police have now it might not even make the ferry port, like Chris said time of sale is important.

If they have plans to put Irish plates on it you need to give them the whole V5 log book so the Irish can make a registration document out of it. You need also to to make a Seller Contract with the date you sell the car so you are clear from the Police or DVLA. Its also important that they also declear the car for export out of UK and also make an document for import to the Eire...
