I've always loved the M535i. When I was at uni (about 5-6 years ago) there was one that I used to see every day on the car park, I loved it and even left a note on it's windscreen for the owner to get in touch if they wanted to sell it. She did email me, but wasn't keen on selling it unfortunately.

I was looking into it again about a month ago, and I was quite surprised to find out that apart from the bodykit, they're exactly the same as the non-M 535i. Great looking car, they don't look particularly heavy like the current 5s - anyone ever driven one?

I had a E21 535, and a E28 535 (both manuals) and even at altitude in Gauteng, they went like poop off a shovel, but a bit barge-like in the handling dept if you are used to the nimbleness of an E30.

I have owned an E28 535i se (same car but without bodykit) and an M535i, both manual and both very quick, left the factory with 218BHP. A good one with the close ratio manual box is still a very useful tool.

IMHO give the auto a wide berth, it is not the same car at all to drive if performance is what you are after; that said the autos make excellent motorway cruisers

All are under valued and even a very good manual is not likely to fetch much more than £2500-£3000.
An E30 touring, two E28 M5's and an E28 528i.

Last Saturday at Evolve a lad turned up in a red manual 535 that he paid £300 for.Long way of the condition of the pistonheads car,but a very solid car with great potential.I owned an E28 some years ago,a lowly 520 manual with a cloth interior, kept it 6 years and wept when I sold it.The only positive was that selling released funds and garage space for the Daimler...every cloud etc....

Hi I like them

I got a m535i with a hartge conversion, handles better than you think for the size of car, enough power to keep you happy but not get into trouble.
