i'm sure there are other parts but cant think of them, I'll keep adding pics.

I am going to try and give you some pics of the car as i built it and most of it was done at home with my younger bro. i did not start taking pics till late on in the build but please bare in mind this was a bog standard loon 10 months ago. Hope you all enjoy because i damn well have, it's taken me hours to put this together and have been lucky enough to win one of the PBMW competitions along the way as you will see below....

Rear end before anything was done apart from the spoiler and carbon style badge....

After the M3 lights, full cutome exhaust system and sports cat and M-Tec rear diffuser:

This was at BimmerFlex 2007 after about 9 months of modding and about a week before the wrap went on:

I was lucky enough to win the PBMW competition earlier this year and this is what i got for it!!!

This was the vinyl being put on by the very skillfull Jason at K2 Graphics (enquires@k2-graphics.co.uk) Make sure you quote TangoBeemer or James if you contact him and he will sort you out. I gave him just over four days to do the whole thing, this guy is incredible and one of the nicest blokes in the world, he has really looked after me and the car. (By the way the reason the black is so shiny in the first photo is because Jason waxed the bollox off it before wrapping it.

thanks guys

i know its not an E30 and i am not rying to be cheecky by putting it on here i just really loved the E30's i saw at the portsmouth meet so wanted to say hi and just thought i would share with you what i had done.

i'm kinda hoping the fact that i have fitted about 90% of all the parts on there my self people might have a little more time for it, especially as i am not a mechanic

cheers again for your comments, like i always say, it like marmite, you'll either like this or hate it, every one is entitled to an opinion.

all i can say is your cars are great and i am close to going out and getting an e30.

If you can make an E36 look good, can't wait to see what you can do to an E30...

I love this vinyl wrapping idea! Seems the way forward to me. Is it possible to get a deep shine with the vinyl as with paint?
I think my tech1 would look sweet vinyl wrapped in jet black

I bet the car needs to have lovely flat panels for the vinyl to stick without air bubbles etc

Hi there, it is definatly the way forward for afordability and just easy application etc...

the black generally does have a deeper shine than the other colours but the more you wax it the better it comes up :)

with regards to flat pannels, not a t all mate, for the first 2 - 3 weeks of the vinyl being on the car it expands and contracts with the varying heat and this automatically gets rid of any air bubbles, i have a couple of dents in mine and the paint work wasnt great and there is not one air buble over the whole car :D

I've never heard of this vinyl wrapping before, it's definitely different. How durable is it, and how much would it have cost for the whole car?

Hi all

i have just been intouch with Jason at K2 and got some figures for you all:

This is for printed vinyl with laminate. We include a bit of artwork, but we do charge per the hour if it gets too complicated! (35.00 per hour)
Bonnet £150.00 + vat
Roof £120.00 + vat
Bonnet & roof £230.00 + vat

Full wrap (dependent on car size) average between £1200.00 to £1900.00 + vat

Single colour (like Tango Beemer or just gloss black for example)

Bonnet £120.00 +vat
Roof £100.00 + vat
Bonnet & roof £190.00 +vat

Full wrap, same details as above
This can range quite heavily, ie using pearl and colour change vinyls.
Can be anything around £1000.00 up to £1900.00 +vat
But a flat colour like yours is around £1200.00 +vat

We can do a discount of 15% if they mention TangoBeemer or James, hope that's okay (5% above our usual discount rate)

hope this helps, any questions let me know.

i know before people have asked but yes they can do pretty much anything and as stated above they can do pear and colour change.....cool

to clean the engine i used Gunk and Auto Glymm engine gleaner and a lot of hard work, it took a day of scrubbing with wire brushes to get all the old laquer off and the general grime then i painted the engine with caliper paint.

i am yet to spray the engine with clear laquer to protect it and give it a deeper, brighter shine.

hope this helps

Cheers

on you profile you need to add it to you signiture.

best thing to do is upload the pic using Photo Bucket and then re-size it so it is in signiture size then copy and paste the IMG code in to the signiture section on your profile.

when you do the engine clean make sure you cover and electricals in the engine bay with plastic bags, go to google and type in engine clean and there will be sites that have a step by step guide.

get the gunk or auto glym cleaner from halfords, fairly cheap there

cheers eko

that is what it is all about for me at the mo, thinking outside the box and doing something a little different.

as for the work put in it has been hard but well worth it, i only got the car 9 months ago and it was bog standard when i got it.

it gives great satisfaction to do this and i think it gives others confidence that are also not mechanics that you can still get out there and do it.

cheers again mate
