As the title suggests I went to Portugal, only for a weekend but it was pretty good none the less. We went in to Vila Real for the day and happened to walk past a fire station and I happened to notice an E28 5 series in there, it is still in regular use and it is immaculate, i`m not sure what engine it is but he one of the guys started it up for us and it certainly sounded pretty fruity I went up to the window to take a photo when one of the fire fighters came out and ushered us in and proceeded to show us all the appliances they had and loads of photos and medals, it was really kind of them, I can`t see that happening here.....
Anyway just thought i`d share the experience with you all and here`s a couple of pics of the car for you all...

What were you doing in Vila Real if I may ask? Are you joining the classic car racing weekend this summer?

It was my mother in laws 60th birthday in april and my other halves stepfather treated us all to a 3 day break in Portugal, we actually stayed in town called Mesao frio at the Poussada Solar De Rede, we only went to Vila Real as we were driving around and exploring and we needed something to eat.

It was my first experience of Portugal, loved it, I was E30 spotting while over there and came across a 324D and one of the ubiquitous 320is`s, also saw a really nice looking white 2 door in white with black leather, what was amazing was the condition of the cars I saw, no grotty paint and no rust, the climate really does help these cars survive.

I'm glad you like the country... If you came back, please let me know so we can arrange a mini-meeting for you in our E30 Clube of Portugal.

But that BMW E28 is not the only one to be used by the firefighters.

Bombeiros = Firefighters

Let me show you this: A 325ix E30!!!

This car has a some history, it was used before as a Safety Car in the Estoril racetrack of Potugal, as seen in this picture (same licence number plate):

Portugal is an ace country for driving, really puts hairs on your chest!

we nearly killed a Ford Ka bombing about on some crazy backroads

I'd be up for an e30 cruise down to meet up with the portugese lads :D :cool:

I nearly killed the Renault Megane 1.5dci we hired, what a gutless piece of crap that was, reminded me of driving our £100 subaru legacy up the St Gothard pass on S2N last year, we tried to kill that too, but it lives to fight another caning across europe. I love road trips.
Here`s the turd in question on St Gothard.
