carried on removing the front end today, but there's only so much I can take off whilst still allowing the engine to run, for a buyer.
but still got a fair amount off out of my way.....

do you have any more pics / info on this project ? links ?
no more pic's glenn, he's not really an internet type so he has no build thread going. from what he was saying it wont be a massive heart ache.

just a small update....

the s54 was sold and collected last week. I still have the gearbox here though.

also, I've agreed a deal 'over the phone' on a v10 engine and some other parts, to be left on the e60 chassis. going to hear it running next weekend, then hopefully collect it shortly after that.
with a bit of luck, I can start to make some progress with this then.

been and collected the parts off the e60 breaker today. so I've got most of the main parts I need, although I still need to source a m3 v8 manual gearbox.

the parts in the shrink-wrap is the oil filter housing and the oil cooler.
I also bought the e60 m5 radiator, I'm going to try and see if I can get it to fit

that's enough for one day......

managed to grab a few hours on the car earlier in the week..

first job was to remove some of the cr@p off the engine in an attempt to make the engine a little smaller, for now. this is what I removed, both exhaust manifolds, some heat protection, power steering 'flow' pipe, both original engine mountings and both banks emission control valves.

I also needed to make a little room in the engine bay too.
anti-roll bar dropped out of the way. I decided to take a little out of the crossmember, and a little out of the sump. also had to cut away some of the metal shrouding that's between the bulkhead and the nearside turret ( the nearside head is occupying
the same space)

Image

I still had to drop the crossmember to be able to rest the engine in the bay.

I managed to grab a couple of hours on the project this afternoon.
I had a spare v10 sump here, so I cut a small section out of the front part of the bowl, and dropped that off for welding earlier in the week.
I got the sump back yesterday, and refitted the modified sump this afternoon..

Seeing all this does make me wonder how the heck you ever fitted it into an E30. Looks like you are doing a sterling job here and credit to you. Thanks for posting and sharing your experience.

I didn't do anything to it yesterday, after I got back home.
been out the garage this afternoon though :D

crossmember and steering rack back on, and the n/s engine mount made.
they'll all probably be off and on a dozen times yet though. i'll take a couple of pics once I get the o/s mount made.

yeah, its nearly finished.
I'm just waiting for a couple of bits to come from Germany (ecu and gateway module), and I can then start it.
