I've heard stories of nice cars being scrapped but this takes the biscuit. Your £2k rebate is made up of a 50/50 government/manufacturer contribution so this guy has effectively scrapped this for a thousand quid ...thread click here

Thats criminal, surely you could get at least 2k private sale for it

Yet more waste, waste of a good car, waste of tax payers money, waste of tasty moresels, more chemicals to be delt with (for the tree huggers).

wish you could trade Gordon brown in with this Scrappage scheme :)

I thought it was going to stop after a year, so people haven't got time to buy a scrapper and keep it for a year and then trade it in, just to get the 2k discount?

But it was F****** germany that started this scheme! :x

The guy I brought my chromie off, said if they couldn't have got £500 for it, they would have put it in to the scrappage scheme for a 1.4 deisel 207 Pug! :puke:

Too many nice cars, meeting an end! :x The sooner its over, the better!

from bbc news website
When does the scheme begin?

It will start around the middle of May and you must wait until it starts to order your new car.

The scheme will end when the £300m set aside runs out - which is 300,000 vehicles scrapped - or the end of February, whichever happens first.

Well that just sums up how dumb the government is! They think 300000 people can afford a new car, that currently own an older car!

IDIOTS!

I had heard a rumour that the £300m cap on the scrappage 'pot' was in fact £1000 for every car over 10 years old (that wasn't declared SORN at the time) in the country...

...therefore the money will NEVER run out until the scheme officially ends
