shadrack told me that he had a boot lid in "perfect condition" with "no rust or marks at all".

I agreed to pay £20 plus £20 for the courier.

This is what arrived:

I PMed him to ask for an explanation. This was his reply:

Well I meant on the bits you can see when its on the car, in all fairness with postage off it you paid £21 for it there is no visible rust when its on the car, perhaps if you are that much of a perfectionist maybe you should have bought a new\pattern part and had it sprayed up which would be hundreds as opose to buying a 20 year old £21 part in original paint! Sorry for the inconvienience but I hate it when people expect new showroom condition on 20year old parts, I've also sold the rest of the car with no problems, thanks mark

Please refund £21 to my Paypal account. I'll write off the postage.
He then said that I must return the boot lid and he would refund me £21 pound when he received it.

So he expects me to spend another £20 on top of the £41 I have already spent in order to get a £21 refund.

The boot lid is only fit for scrap.

Steer clear of this chap.

the price is irrelevant - you (the seller) did not describe its REAL condition

maybe it does look okay on the car but give it a few months and it going to split and look SH|T

So because "you cant see the rust when fitted" its a "perfect" and "rust free" bootlid? Even though its obvious the seams are rotted out and hanging off?

And you say he's the joker

Without jumping on the bandwagon or taking sides;

Price is irrelevant. Yes ok £20 is cheap compared to buying new from BMW, not an argument. Item described as rust free and perfect MUST be rust free and perfect whether it's £10 or £1000. If not as described (or close even) then buyer is entitled to full refund. End of arguement I'm afraid. Buy yes I would not refund without return of original item.

I wouldn't let the rusty piece of scrap anywhere near my car.

I expected to get what you said it was: "perfect condition" with "no rust or marks at all"

Because that would be the decent and honest thing to do.

I am happy to return the scrap to you but will then expect a full refund including the postage which will be £61 total.
Or you could pay me back the £21 as I have offered. It still leaves me £20 out of pocket but I am prepared to swallow that.

If it was me id expect a £40 refund, if he wants it back he can send a foooking courier to collect it!
This is the problem when you send money to unknown people, especially with no photo proof beforehand.
I recently bought an engine loom and 'full car loom' from an ebayer, spoke to him on the phone and asked specifically if all the ABS plugs were still present, yes was the answer, not one when it turned up, the loom had been chopped off at the passenger footwell and only had the dash parts remaining. Utter prick and total liar as far as im concerned, he is supposed to be phoning me back when he has another to replace it with but im not holding my breath.

This is all very unfortunate, but it is the way of the world. It would be great if we could have honest people doing honest business with each other.

I hate to say it but the rule of thumb is "If it seems too good to be true, it is too good to be true".

Stating the fairly obvious, I know, but if you do not know the seller, at a minimum request pictures, otherwise collect the parts.

tell you what to all you band wagon retards, the problem is the £20 postage and the £20 price, go buy something from an online shop for £100+£10 postage, decide you dont want it ( the shop doesnt say or just keep it then) they will say post it back YOU PAY £10, THEY WILL THEN REFUND YOU THE £100 NOT THE £100+POSTAGE also what about the numerous 30 or so happy customers? then you get one free loader who expects the item and a refund including postage and probly a free bloody car, what about the fact there was picture of the car on here, i had to wrap it all then take it 20miles to post, i might as well have kept it!!!!!!!

Its bumpy on this wagon but being a retard is helping me ride it! Obviously Shedrocks idea of mint is not like your average normal persons! My advice is dont put the words Mint, rare, super awesome in any adverts :D

Just because its loads cheaper than brand new, doesnt mean its not rusty crap  If the guy asked if it was mint condition and you said yes, then you are at fault for selling it him. I would want a full refund from you for it. If you wanted it back, like Dan said, sort a courier to collect it... I dont pay for anything from people on here without it being through paypal as a payment for this exact reason :?

I also sell things through Ebay all the time, if something is mint, I sell it like that, if it has the slightest of marks, I take pictures of this and make sure the buyer is aware.

30 happy customers as well is hardly something to use an arguement either  And how is he freeloading? :?

Wrapping it and taking it to the post office to post it... Standard selling stuff online dude. What kind of excuse is that?

I disagree, anything I have bought online comes with a return postage label or has been collected or I have been refunded any postage. The customer is not obliged to pay the return postage if they are returning an item that is unsatisfactory.
