Chip camne today super fast delivery and its AWESOME went for the Mild chip no regrets

EDIt: for anyone thinking of buying one it really is worth the money, throttle response has vastly improved especially mid range it really supprised me. Tbh I thought these were a waste of money but ive been proved wrong!

Any sort of mod for the l-jetronic system

Re: Speedtouch +++

Posted: Sun Jun 08, 2008 8:05 pm
by Speedtouch
Sorry Beswick, L-Jetronic is the earlier analogue system which can't be chipped in the conventional way (since there's no EPROM chip in the ECU). A couple of tweaks you can do are to advance the ignition timing slightly by rotating the distributor a little clockwise, and removing the centrifugal rev limiter on the rotor arm which will extend your rev limit from a brutal 6000rpm cutoff to a more gentle 6250rpm progressive cut built into the ECU. Obviously, the engine and cambelt should be in good condition prior to doing this.

Which chip was it I ended up with? mild or wild?

Hi Dunx,
The chip you won off e30bmlover was a Wild. How have you been getting on with it?

Cheers,

low revs and idle seem better when cold - but it seems to lose the punchyness it had at 4k - its still there but not as obvious as before. Not really noticed much improvement across the rest of the range either.

May swap back to the original one to compare again - rev limit is definatly higher though

Maurice (speedtouch) is the man!
#please read#
my 325i had a 164 ecu,got in touch with maurice for advice on a chip,he helped me choose the ecu to best suit my car so the chip would work, got a 173 ecu then ordered a WILD chip
came within 2 days, fitted to the car and went for a blat
the car felt smoother and when it hit 5000+rpm the car went crazy, there was definatly a power gain, and even sounded different, but it seemed to lose the power mid range,so to get any fun out of this chip you need to be on the limit all the time (ie track car)which didnt really suit me
got in touch with maurice and he offered if i sent the Wild chip back he would send me a Mild chip to try and if i wasnt satisfied he would give me a full refund!
so now have the MILD chip, its been in a week and i know ive made the right choice,
the car feels so much different the mid range punch has vastly improved,in third gear it pulls like a train and it doesnt miss a beat,i took it to the 7000 limit and the noise it made was something else,it screamed like a bastid(only done it twice)this is how a chip should be,throttle response has also improved
to weigh it all up i cannot fault this man,nor the chip(ive asked him to rename the mild)lol
the best bang for £30 ive ever spent!
give it a try, what have you got to lose!!!!!

I had order my mild chip Thursday evening and got it on Saturday, It also came with instructions as how to fit which was good.

There is a big difference between the standard and this chip, such a difference that my 10year old daughter comment was how smoother the car felt, and she is right.

Remember the ad "Daddy or Chips"

Would just like to add my thanks and recommendation here too.

Chip was ordered and payment sent by cheque. Delivery was ~1 week.. and the cheque hasn't even cleared as yet, but I now have the chip fitted... really couldn't ask for a more trusting and excellent service.

Would definitely be more than happy to do further business in the future with Maurice :)

Thanks again fella!

Regards,

Ian

Well if you'd like a recommendation then you can point in my direction. After fitting the wild chip the car flew at the weekend. My mate on pit wall said it was visibly faster so it wasn't just my arse dyno telling lies!!

Seemed to rev much easier and pulled really well. The new rev limit mean't I could hang on to gears a bit longer so less time shifting.

I won't be asking for my money back.

Highly recommended and arrived the next day with a money back offer. Can't say fairer than that.

received my Mild chip for my 325i se AUTO.

im amazed at the difference its made. everything i needed to know about installation was there so i wasnt confused one bit either.

iv now got bags more torque and a raised rev limiter (not that the auto uses it though)

well worth the £30 i paid over the bank holiday weekend and im well impressed with it.

i recommend this to all auto owners. . . also i put in £20 of BP ultimate unleaded and after testing the chips working in an orderly fashion iv still got loads of fuel left!

thanks speedtouch!

I reeived my 325i mild chip in the post the day after I ordered it, fitted last night and took it to the guildford meet.

All I can say is £30 well spent, better throttle response, smoother power delivery, just an all round better drive.

cheers speedtouch.

Top bloke, fast shipping and very helpful!
In regards to the chip, put it in yesterday and the cars a totally different character! pulls well from as low as 1500 revs and even more kick at 3000 - not gone above 6k but delivery of power is much improved and she seemed a lot smoother and happier on the cold drive this morning.

Just waiting on the fuel consumption variances now!!
Either way, £30 - you cannot go wrong.

Cheers Maurice!

P.s has anyone had their car on a rolling road after fitting the mild chip, I can believe the +7bhp but how is torque actually changed?

I had an e-bay chip in my 320i - changed it today for a speedtouch mild chip.

Now I have the car I always wanted, smooth as silk with plenty of pull.

Twice I forgot I wasn't in the works 2.0 litre jap cr*p with vvt, these chips are that good.

If you want to buy your E30 a Chistmas Present, you know what to get.
Me.- I'm going to buy mine a 325i throttle body.

Bought a mild 325 chip from the man and been enjoying the ride from the moment i sent him a PM, very pleasant chap - great to deal with.
Took about 5 minutes to install and a few miles before it got the hiccups sorted, the driving experience went from superb to sublime!
Cheers dude, best £30 i spent on any car ever!
