i want to get some decent detailing products to keep my white sports paint as shiney as possible for as long as possible. at the moment im using

-zymol shampoo
-tfr to clean the wheels (ive got 40 litres of the stuff so dont need an wheel cleaner)
-farcela de-swirler
-farcela g3
-megs clay bar
-megs quick detailer
-mer polish
-turtle way tyre gel.

i get ok results with the stuff i use. but i want the deepest shine i can get.
my budget is about 100-150 so i want some fairly decent stuff that will last me a while.
any recomendations?

There are people better qualified to answer this than me,but as for the shampoo i now use "Meguires shampoo plus" as recommended by d6dph on here and i love it !

what exactly do you want? if you after a nice wax then i personally would recomend some Dodo Juice wax, white specific,
reasons for recomending Dodo, simply because of the protection its offering, my Dads car is zinobar red and used to fade. Once i had preped and then waxed the car with 3 layers it hasnt faded for almost 3 months and was still beading really nicely. Dodo also gives a really nice deep shine.

just my 2p, im sure Dave will be along to recomend some other bits.

basically i want a range of products that will. clean my paint, polish it, seal it. and get rid of any swirl marks. i want glass smooth paint.

whats your budget and how much effort are you prepared to put in??

Yep but once clean you want to protect them.

what color is your car mike ?

my budget is 100-150 and im willing to put alot of effort in. ive allways had good results but have never been able to keep a long lasting finish. here some pics of my polo a few days after i polished it. but as soon as it rained or i washed the car again the shine wasnt so deep. id like it to last a few washes rather than one.

my dads car, polished with menz 3.02, chemical guys paint cleaner and 3 coats of Dodo juice orange crush 3 months after being detailed and it is washed once a week aswell,

im going to go with:

polish - chemical guys spider web

glaze - megs new car glaze

sealent - chemical guys wet mirror finish

wax - dodo juice diamod white.

i may just being stupid but when does the sealent get used, before or after glaze?

after a glaze, personally i would substitute the sealent for some dodo juice lime prime,

The AIO ive been using is doing a good job jon, but is there anything I can 'top it up' with to give an even better finish as I feel its a bit 'flat'

AIO is a good dip in the ZAINO pond

i use it for all shuts etc

personally id use some z2 pro on top and then zaino CS on top of that
then a misting of Z8

AIO is for speed of results and the durability is top notch

if i had to choose one id say the z8 will give you most bang for buck in finish terms

its without doubt the best detailing spray out there

but CS and Z2 pro will add even more

you use so very little of the stuff

is there really going to be that much difference between zaino or chemical guys? or is it just personal preference.

IF chemical guys was better even if it was a grand a bottle id use it

Jon i have to agree with you on the Zaino but unless he is going to get a porter cable etc etc then its pointless dont you think?

the only way you are going to get results that are going to justify Zaino is to prep the paint 100%, i.e de-swirl etc. As you probally know as you are using zaino, Zaino is very very fussy.

Ive got Zaino products and the results are fantastic but unless you can get the paint 100% to start with you wont do it justice,

And also using a porter cable allows you to brake down the polish more throughly.

My paint isnt 100% most of it is 15+ years old and has had some serious neglect. Stone chips, scratches, you name it its probably got it. Im no 'polisher' I use my car every day and put some serious milage on it so I want the best protection available with the best results and obviously, the least effort possible
Washing my car is a pita, I can think of things I would much rather be doing so the easier it is the better!

application of zaino does not need to be by porter at all

removal of swirls (i mean removal as opposed to filling them) does not affect durability wether you do it or not

perfect perfect flawless paint will need a machine without doubt

but this is in prep of surface not in protection

it interests me to watch how manufacturers mimic systems and products and produce shitty quality products sometimes other peoples products relabelled and the masses flock and all of a sudden its the holy grail

chemical guys is a good example

approach them with the folded and tell them you want your own range of products with your name on

they will rebottle their stuff into your bottles for the right money and people will use it and say oh this is the bollox or this isnt as good as chemical guys LSP but wheel cleaner is much better etc etc

in fact its the same fecking stuff

believe me when i tell you there are products on the shelves in major shops all over the world where the packaging costs 3 times what the contents do.

its important to ascertain what you want from a product to deem itself good to you individually

if its shine then buy a can of silicone spray

it will shine like a b@stard but what about durability,ease of use etc

my advice is look at what you want to achieve

ie amount of effort you are willing to put in,budget,expectations of finish in terms of looks and how long it will look like it does the minute you are finished,the ease in application and removal of products and long term VFM.

People make out that ZAINO is fussy about panel cleanliness before application,temperature,drying times etc etc

i have used it for over 7 years and never had a problem.Yeh temps alter drying times as does dampness etc but thats the same with any product.

well been as my car is being resprayed the paint will be blemish free. so wat zaino products would you recomend to keep the swirls at bay, clean and protect my paint?

getting it sprayed up jersey auto repair center, up stmary's. looking at about 1000 to respray it, but thats mates rates as my bro knows the owner well. but his still cheaper than most places over here. its staying white as i think sports look best in white. plus its cheaper that way

nope not at all. paint is really good ive already had both sides resprayed and the front bumper+valance. its had alot of paint work done before on it, but it was done with base and clear and the orgional paint is just base and so no matter how hard i polish some pannels some dont come as shiney as others and i want them to all shine the same. the only rust on it is the sunroof pannel and its only surface, got a new sunroof pannel sitting in my room though . ive seen all under the body kit from when it was in the body shop, absolutley spotless no rust in site. but it looks like im going to turn it into a rally car now. so i might have to put it off for a while.
