Need polish. Im not going for concorse finish just want to get some protection on the paint. I like Maguires products but really dont want to have to do the whole three stage thing. Is there a Maguires polish I can apply and then wax regually.
This is what I have so far

The Maguires wax is ok for me. Silver will never get that deep shine.
Tomorrow I will probably try out the Chemical Guys wheel sealant. Take the wheels off one by one and clean inside and out then apply the sealant

it'll be shiny but have no depth.
to be honest if your paints crap, all you ever end up doing is hiding and masking the poor finish, and the wax will give it a shine, however when waxed and sealed you will actually highlight any imperfections which will be visibale on close inspections . this applys to all p[aint finishes and colours, but the colours that hide imperfections well are the silvers and whites and generally any light colour.

Paul,
I use Pro-detailing UK products, they will train you up free of charge, have an awesome selection of products and have incredible knowledge.
I now neither use wax or polish.
Curious ?
See the Zone Trading Post for link or give me a shout in the week after Monday.

Potential risk of being flamed for mentioning the T word, but I use Meg's stage 2 and my choice of wax is... Turtle Wax Platinum!! (Really)
Gives a nice shine IMO, although the more expensive products do offer more, but you can spend an awful lot on posh waxes.

you will need a wax or sealant, choice is yours. what works for me is autoglym products, but some people hate them, where as i hate meguires.

ill have to differ, you can get a silver car to have alot of depth in the paint but as you have said if the paint isnt good in the first palce then you only hide the imperfections.

no worries,
15 years experience and thats my p.o.v.
the 2 best colours to get deep shine and really stand out are striaght black and red, the sport evo colours for exaple. any dark metalics are good, like macau and avus blue but never ever will a silver have the same depth. a metalic grey possibly but to have impact it needs to be strong metalic similar to say negaro or the CSL grey
these days with water based paints, you dont realy get the sparcle and glittery effect celulose paints and base coats have.
for an example of the impact a colour has all you have to do is look at the AMG mercs, they look so dull and flat in silver, where as bmw and audi have some really nice colurs which give their cars impact.
i'm building a car to have impact, and silver as colour was crossed of the list first for these reasons.

Kos i know exactly what you are saying.
silver imo is a boring colour but it is possible to get depth in the paint. i know it wont be as deep as other colours but it is possible.

I get a nice deep shine from mine too and thats silver
but you gotta have good paint to start with and mine wasnt too bad apart from where a scrote keyed it
had a go at polishing cirrus blue over the weekend
what a hard colour to work with
I find black can be a bit of a dog colour to work with too
Paul is that gold class polish I see there?
thats quite a good polish and not too hard to work with either
you should try the meguires stage 2 of the set
then a nice wax to go over it should give some nice results
Hubble put those pictures away
