Its only £20 more (subject to exchange rate and what you credit card copany charge for exchange of currency) if you order from
http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ and comes wiht polishing compound and some free pads.
Porta Cable Page

Don't forget they run off of IIRC 110V so you'll need an 2pin stepdown converter, but most building supply centres sell these for £30-£40
And when I bought mine from them they put it down as value $35 so I didn't have to pay any import duty and took 7 days to arrive.

Dont worry, i already have a transformer for it. March, that is a good deal mate but once you factor in the shipping it works out £55 more expensive and those pads can be had for less than that.
Anyway, its academic now as iv already ordered it

How do these differ from a Bosch GEX 150AC random orbital sander? As I all ready have one of those!!! Perhaps i should investigate if i can get a polishing head for it.

I believe the pc will stall the pad if too much downward pressure is placed on it, this will stop damage to the paint.

Apparently the only way you can damage your paint with a Porter is to drop the bloody thing on the bonnet just ordered mine and a shitload of Poor Boys compounds and waxes and pads from Ron at Cargeeks £185 delivered I am an Electrician by trade so split wound 110v transormer sorted along with required plugs.
Cargeeks in the US of A have a good deal which works out at £135 sterling or thereabouts with pads polishes and compounds but chances are the Fookin government will want their cut in taxes so i bought in the UK.

A wee tip about buying in the states.....
If you can get the seller to send it by US Postal service then you won't get any import tax added on because it will enter the country through Royal Mail compaired to Fed Ex or UPS they get import tax added....
Dosen't look too bad a deal, I've had mine for over a year now, great tool, I used Autopia tho with a discout coupon aswell. Got two of each SFX 6" pads, Two of each 4" pads and the polisher for about 180 i think!?
Got a rotary now tho so gonna start using that more!

i bought mine through tools-plus in the states... US$99 for the basic porter cable and US$53 shipping to me in brighton. then i get a call from parcel force saying there is £13 tax on it and a £13 fee from them - b4stards!!
anyway - the exchange rate was at USD2/£1 so worked out as £100 to me delivered.
THEN you need the transformer and the cables which was £59 all in from screwfix (i think) so it cam is at £160 ish BUT with no pads..
a mate bought the sonus kit off ebay and it was £200 delivered with transformer and a few pads... i think he had the easiest option...
so i just ordered £150 of pads and polishes from cleanyourcar (.com or .co.uk) and as i don't have a garage can't get out there to use it in this attrocious weather...
anyway... amazing piece of kit - i have seen my mate use it with his detailing business and quite rightly charges between £300-500 a day to correct/restore/regenerate their paint...
