Clean it off straight away, Cause the longer you leave it the more the acid in the shit burns your paint!!! Witch is what leaves the marks!!

Try a alkasalsa inside a bit of bread - the seagull will eat it - fly off then pop like a baloon - this will make you laugh and 4get about yr bonnet

Petrol eh? Never heard of this... you can actually feel the marks, like they have melted the laquer. Will petrol really work?

try sanding the paint with 1500 annd 2000 grade wet and dry then polishing it up with a good polishing compound such as farecla G3 ideally on a buffer and then wax. failing that your off to the bodyshop for some paintwork

So thats what they are! On my car also, same colour as yours and dans. Maybe they are prone to staining.

Maybe... black is one of those colours though, that just shows up every mark... a few weeks before the bird shit incident (all those marks were created on the same day) my brother wrote "clean me" in the dirt on the very same bonnet

- you can still read it now, but not so clearly after he spent the morning T-cutting it
id agree go over it with some g3
I've heard of this G3, even asked for it at a local breakers. they wanted nearly £20 for a litre

I didn't know if I needed that much, but also, how to use it, so just looking for other options...

Normally used with a polishing mop on fresh paintwork to give a flat finnish, but is also good for removing dullness/oxidised paint. You can use it by hand for getting crap like this off aswell
My paintworks had a right good dose of it

bird shite is bad news
it etches into laquer and longer left especially in sun the more damage caused
there is no easy solution
only way is to cut the laquer back and hope there is enough depth of laquer there to alow removal
g3 is perhaps a little course to start with.id use something less aggressive first and work your way up
there are dependant factors on how easy or hard it will come out if at all
first there is what the bird ate as berries etc are very acidic
second is condition of paint surafce
if it is oxidised and not in tip top shape then damage may look worse than it is due to contamination thats on surface already
id wash bonnet in fairy liquid first to strip old wax/polish off
then id clay the bonnet to remove contamination
then id use a good paint surafce cleaner meguiars or p21s
then id take another look
id then use a swirl mark remover again meguiars pro range has a reasonable one
if this isnt achieving the desired results then id look at using g3 on wet panel
remember tho that by hand and not by machine is going to take yo longer to get results
just be patient and if it starts to lessen keep at it
