What clay on flat, very contaminated paint

Its Not a bmw, but iv got a vw t4 that needs tlc and i want to make the most of the old paint, the paint is flat, and very contaminated, you can see what looks like overspray and grinding dust, if you run your nail over it you can pick it off.

Having never used clay I don't know how much cut they usually have. I was looking on cleanyourcar.co.uk and they do a 200g tub of meguiars aggressive clay, is this overkill? I was then looking to machine polish it and seal it.

Can people recommend products that will be good was thinking a glaze, autoglym srp, and an easy to use wax.

Also if using an aggressive clay would it damage paintwork that wasn't heavily contaminated if used on it

The standard Meguiars Clay should do the job (pretty good value too), I4Detailing have some good clays of various grades at a good price too.
