I have the engine out of my E30 at the moment and tried cleaning the engine bay the other day. I used engine De-greaser, that got off the oil and general dirt. Now i am left with the wax-oil or some other type of sealent, I tried using ''Concept'' '' Tar and Glue Remover'' but it didnt even disturb it. any ideas or knowledge would help.

Cheers, Colm

When I cleaned the engine bay on a golf I owned i had the same problem, the best things I tried was carb or brake cleaner spray and Autoglym intensive tar remover wasnt bad. If it is wax oil or similar it might be worth pouring very hot water on the areas in question to soften it up, Good luck its worth the hard work !

A petrol and parrafin mix will remove it...

Obviously no naked flame etc etc! !

keep away from plastic and paints though !

a dry steam cleaner is good investment.
