I got into detailing in a mild way. Car was garaged and hardly used. Give it a wash, clay (once a year) and polish and stick it in the garage and it will look good for weeks.

Pull it out, treat the external plastics, clean the glass. Following week hoover, treat interior plastics. few weeks later, clean and protect wheels with a little tyre dresssing ad infinitum. Going to shows was just a case of arriving and giving her a squert with a quick detailing spray and she looked good to the casual observer.

Now she is no longer in a garage and living on the street, every time I drive to a supermarket I get the guys asking me if I would like my car washed :(

I know it will be different in the summer when its warmer and I have more time to spend on her but its gutting to get into and driveing a dirty car.

Yours always looked good matey. Now I know it's out in the street I WILL have those wheels off it yet! Mine is a PITA to keep clean as I just don't have the facilities at my house to clean it properly

i'd rather have dirty car and take my time to clean it safely when time/weather allows. i did the paint correction on the daily last june, washed it every week or so and was maintaining it. five months later it was still beading and looking good after wash and quick detail

now, i popped to the shops over xmas and i made a mistake. it had been a good 2 weeks with out a wash, so i let them loose on it. big mistake, i should have known better but i though fuck it let them have a go. came back with a few marks, nothing major but enough to fuck me off.

so, i re polished and waxed it my self just after the new year and its nice again

moral of the story, do not let any one at it. its better to have a dirty car and give it a safe wash when time allows than let an monkey loose on it.

Yep I agree, I've let a few people clean my car in the past.. its a quick fix. I just cleaned mine this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it.. even though I pushed my finger through the bottom of one of my front wings, the rust been flaking for a while.. have always feathered around it until today... oh well its been on the list for a while and has just notched up a few levels in priority.

I have mine parked a network of packed (parking wise) streets, people love to use other cars as a parking guide, mine has collected so many little dings over the years, very infuriating but there's little that can be done..
