Let's see what are you using to protect your finish?
sealant or wax?

this is my procedure...

3M clay
light polish
two layers of Collinite 915 or some other nuba wax

i recently used the meg's stage 3 carnuba wax, 2 good applications after a light clay and polish works a treat, you do have to work the stage 3 but it gives good results for an off the shelf product.

I use (when i can be bothered!) Auto Glym super resin polish followed by Turtle Wax silicon sealant.

It seems to to the trick for a few months...but my standards are not very high.

You do.

I'm a fan of AG Super Res Polish, followed by AG Extra Gloss and then Meguiar's Gold Class Wax.

In that order surely?

Some polishes have sealant in them, some waxes have sealant in them.

if u use a sealant then no wax required and vice vursa

Polish - to get the nice smooth glossy surface you want.
Sealant- to seal in the polish and paintwork
Wax/ Glaze- to maximise the gloss and gleam and also protect the finish

AG stuff is ok along with a few others, however, pro products like Meguars, Dodo Juice, Poorboys, Chemical Guys, Zanio, etc etc etc give a far superior finish, even if applied by hand and not DA/ Rotary.

Personally,

Good quality polish- various i like
Chemical Guys Wet Mirror sealant
and then pete's '53 Paste, Colnite or depending on your budget- Zymol

I may regret but what is pete's '53?

Surely pacer isn't knocking a small batch out every night?
As for which product I'll ask my man next time he comes round to clean my touring.

Pete's '53 is a paste wax, its another Chemical guys product, very widely used.

i can recommentd Zymol Titanium, but it depends on your budget. Pete's 53 and colnite is upto about £30.00 a tub, Zymol is £70 upto about £7k a tub.

I use everything from Jetseal 109 sealent and Zaino to Dodo Juice Wax, Swissvax onyx, and miglaro primo Wax, im a bit obsessive with my waxes and sealents

I Find Jetseal 109 fantastic and lasts a long time, of course Zaino is top of my list but for bang for buck jetseal is great,

i never put wax over selent its either 1 or the other

Would pure natural bees wax be of any use?

are these for daily driver cars or garage queens ?

i ude clean, demon shine (love this stuff) and a £7.99 tin of canuba wax from halfords (forget the make) , brings up the car a treat

find i have to clean the car twice a week anyway,however im interested in learning about other products, want to give the car a good clay for the 1st time, once a few things have been done

Clay bar the car (meguars quick clay is cheap and gives good results) which gives the paintwork a smooth finish ready for polich and removes harmfull deposits which accumulate, even if you wash your car regularly.

Next Polish, tipically they are abrasive to some degree as they polish the paintwork, remove swirl marks, holograms etc (talking just polish and there are so many different types, try not to use combined polish/wax etc, use seperate dedicated products for a far better finish).

Then a sealant, this seals the paintwork finish (remember polish just polishes, it doesn't provide any paintwork protection). sealant is your last line of defence for your paintwork

Then a wax or glaze. Wax protects the paintwork and finish you have just created with the previous 2 steps. Glazes generally work slightly differently as they bond to your paintwork, rather than just coating it with wax. the effect is the same- protection. Your first and main line of defence against the elements.

Multiple thin layers of wax or a glaze adds more protection to your finish and will also deepen the shine and colour of the paintwork.
