Right, I've taken the plunge and bought a Porter Cable 7424 from the US after reading and seeing the Porter Cable vids and feel confident enough to start using it on my cars.
I've chosen a few products to get me started, but I wanted to know where you get the detailing or masking tape I've seen on the PC video's and others to mask off bits you don't want the polish to mess up? It's blue in colour, not the standard wite masking tape you get from B&Q.

Any help appreciated.

Also, anyone know a good, cheap place for the Sonus pads too as the PC I ordered only comes with the 1 polishing pad as standard.

TIA.

I buy a lot of gear from Tim at www.cleanyourcar.co.uk

in fact, took delivery of some 3m tape today. They certainly stock Sonus, so probably do the pads you are after.

Spot on. The popular tape is the 3M 3434, if you buy it in a trade place it will be cheaper - although if you're not going to get through loads its probably false economy.

As for pads, I still think Meguiars pads are the best all round for performance & value for money. I get my stuff from www.cleanandshiny.net (think they are having website problems at the moment), but then I visited the States earlier this year and bought 'a few' back because they are somewhat cheaper out there.

i have found that lakecounty pads are very good, again i buy from pro-detailing for my zaino products and cleanyourcar.com, and cleanandshiny.co.uk.

i have found that using normal masking tape, low tac made by duck, is as good as the 3m product.
