I'm looking to get the rocker cover back to silver but it's got a lot of black paint on it at the moment. In anyone's experience what's the best way to get this off and restore the finish?
Just like yonda...

My own experience with sandblasters is that they damage the surface quite badly. Tried to get a good finish but always looks blasted.
Thinking chemicals.

You could try nitormorrs for stripping back the paint, just be very careful with it.
Or if you have the patience fine wet and dry would also do it.

I'm looking for the original silver finish. Although nice idea to paint. I don't know how these things came as standard, were they painted, clear lacquered or some other coating like nickel?

Sand it back mate, just start with a low grit and work your way to the finer stuff...
