Hi,
Can anybody tell me if the m tech 2 body kit will fit the earlier style e30's without any alterations?
Thanks,

Paul

I don't believe it will fit without alterations. I don't know the exact details, but the early wheel arches are a different size/shape to the later ones.

i`m fitting the kit on my 87 325i
i can take some photos etc and give details of what needs doing if you like.
the kit was fitted dealer fitted back in 88 on my other 87 325i that i scrapped to due to rusty shell, so i`ve got to fit it from scratch to the new shell

As above i think the wheel arches as possibly the bumpers have to be modded to make it fit nicely.

Thanks for your help, i agree they look good on the older e30's but i probably dont want to alter the kit because they cost so much!! Thanks again.

you don`t have to alter the kit at all really
on the rear bumper you have to make up some brackets shaped to the bumper to extend to the wheelarch lip and secure with self tappers
the rest of work is required to the body.
what i have done...
ground off the old towing eyes below the bumper mounts.
later type metal front valance, later type bumper mounts (with built in tow eye bit)
next up is
new rear bumper mounts have to cut out metal to fit these

Thanks Matt, That doesnt sound too much work, and the kit looks so good on the older e30's, i might just try it. Got the kit already, now just got to get the car (i know i did those in the wrong order!

). Thanks.

By the way you got any pics of your car, sounds good!

I have just done this. You have to alter the rear quarter panel( on kit) and the rear bumper were it lines up with the arch. You cannot plastic weld the kit its made of a impact absorbing resin (if genuine) i had to use a special plastic super glue. then fill and paint it,not forgetting the spots (Ԛ£50 for a good set). Its not hard but its worth taking your time to do a proper job.The kits sell for upto Ԛ£500 if its good and you may be able to flog your car for a decent amount. There are a few genuine mtec2s about if you look around for Ԛ£1500. But just ignor me mate what do i know.
