E30 Zone

Has anyone got a picture of an e30 with 18" alloys, and one with 17" alloys next to each other?

ive got 18's on mine .. i'll try and post piccy now, standby..

Cheers blingsta, do you get any problem with rubbing with you 18"'s and is you car lowered?

no rubbing mate.. providing you use the right tyre size.. and nope, car is standard ride height...

It looks very good mate, much better than I thought it would.

i will post that up later mate... the silver/grey car in the pic is the car the wheels were on before i bought them... i havent since taken a pic with them on my car... will take a few later and post up for you guys to see..

Nae luck min! I'll keep an aye out for you. Do you want a touring shell or any body style? I doubt the 318i Touring I have here would be much use to you as I think it needs a sill welding.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, an e30 doesn't need wheels any bigger than 16" if it's lowered properly.

By going with a bigger rim you're just going to make the ride harsher.

Got to admit mine drove pretty badly on 17's compared with 15's. Id like a nice set of wide 16's next.

I agree with hammo. I've got a set of 15's for playtimes and a set of 17's for show because it looks better with bigger wheels.

you could say that about anything. my touring didnt NEED a cosworth engine but it improved it and made it more fun into the bargain. bigger wheels with elastic band thin tyres look much nicer than 15's or 16's with comedy baloon tyres.
its all about aesthetics.

Depends what you're after i suppose....as you've no doubt learnt I prefer wider wheels to large wheels, hence i would always for for a wide 16 rather than a 17 or 18.

Also considering there's so many shite wheels on the market that can really f*ck with your handling (i've been there and done that ) i wouldn't do it.

genuine wheels are a whole different matter though as they tend to be okay even with bigger wheels.

Also by fitting 17's or 18's it makes the car higher, so even with a 60mm drop (which would be on the ground with 16's fitted) it still looks like it's high off the ground.

I used to prefer larger wheels myself, but have found myself go off them, and sway more for the euro low and wide look.

I really like wheels with a nice deep dish on them myself, and to be honest after seeing BadDave's picture I've got to say I think the 17" wheels suit the car perfectly. I've got 15" on mine at the moment, and did look at 16" deep dish wheels, but they always look a bit too small for the car. As for mucking up the handling, it depends on whats been done to the car. If you fit 17" wheels with average tyres to something like a 320, then yes it will not handle as good as the 15", but if the cars got a number of other mods done, and the right gearing and power, then 17" with a good set of tyres won't muck up the handling.

Yeah, wide 16's with a dish look amazing on an e30 as long as the drop is right. Mmmmm, euro.....

I personally prefer keeping the car original and geniune, but i like the 17's in that pic

fook 18's i have had one car with them and it was crap to drive,a pothole caused you major spinal injuries and it tramlined everywhere,looked good though lol ,but still binned them for 15's

Hi, just a quick one following on from c2pete, can I ask everyone that has hated larger wheels, were they running pirelli's? I had perilli's 3 times as hey're supposed to great, and everytime the cars has tramlined with them, even my range rover did!!!

Got 18's on mine mate and they don't look too bad, bit big for my personal liking but ok. But what really jars me about them is the ride, it's so bad plus they rub like F**K. On the rear it's ripped off the side panel of my Mtec 2 kit and on the front it's pulled the wing out slightly plus you can't go full lock. Mine E30 is just a toy and I am only using it during the summer but even that's too much, so they're getting binned for a deep dish set of 15's maybe 16's.

I got 18" on mine.
