Fitting M Tech I to Chrome bumper E30 convertible

I am about to fit an M tech I kit and I was going to replace the plastic bumper parts that attach to the chrome bumpers at the same time to make it look all nice and new again.
On the ETK it lists a normal part number and also a part number for M Technic.
My question is, has anyone fitted an M tech I to a car that previously did not have it and did you need to get new bumper trims?
Anyone know the main differences?
