still got original tape player in the car but want to put cd player in.any recommendations price between £50-£100.also do i need to update the connections.

alpine.
you can get an alpine cd/mp3 player an ipod ready headunit from between £90 and £100.
headunits are usually supplied with a universal plug that should fit your e30 connectors then plug into the back of the cd player

+1 for alpine and the ipod ready jobs are great.
now get some speakers, thick cables, subs, power caps...........
